In the morning, the guide will drive directly from Nanning to Tongling Grand Canyon. It is about 210 km and takes around 4-4.5 hours.
Tongling Grand Canyon,which located in Baise prefecture (百色市), Jingxi County (靖西县), the name of this gorge means 'Connected to the Spirit World'. You will certainly feel spiritual as you descend narrow flights of stairs down to a large cavern, with flickering bulbs and the roar of an underground river. Emerging past the cave, you venture through a thick tropical forest into a series of wild gorges, and past vaulted cliffs with hanging stalactites and dramatic waterfalls that end in crystal pools framed by boulders.
You can walk around some of the waterfalls into the cool, otherworldly caves beyond. But you can't go near the tallest one, which has a drop of 170m and a splash of hundreds of metres in the summer.
Afterwards,we will take a ride to Detian Waterfall.
Detian Waterfall crosses from China to Vietnam, spanning over 200 meters wide and dropping about 70 meters high, which marks it the largest transnational waterfall in Asia and the fourth largest in the world. The water volume of Detian is about five times that of Huangguoshu Waterfall, which is the Largest Waterfall in China and the entire Asia! Unlike any other falls in the world, Detian Waterfall drop in three stages instead of dropping into the pool in direct. The majestic view of falls with multiple layers is extremely impressive, let alone there are spectacular Guilin-like Karst peaks decorating as the backdrop!
In addition to enjoying the majestic scenery of the waterfall, you can also choose to ride bamboo rafts to experience the strange sensation of passing through two different countries. You can take a photo with the ancient boundary marker and look across to view the scenery of rural Vietnam on the other side.
Not far from the waterfall lies the No.53 Boundary Marker, built in Qin Dynasty (1636 - 1912). You could take some memorable photos at the marker and explore the nearby Sino- Vietnamese bazaar.

It is often referred to as China's “second Guilin.” Visitors can enjoy a trip on a bamboo raft and get a taste of typical rural life. The area featured in the famous Chinese TV series The Journey of Flower.

Welcome to Beihai!
In the morning,after breakfast, your guide take you to embark the about 1.5-hour ferry to Weizhou Island. Weizhou Island is the largest and youngest volcanic island in China and is super beautiful like an emerald jade looked from the sky. Cosy sunshine, soft white sand, blue sea, and verdant grooves makes Weizhou Island one of the most popular beach resorts in China!
After arrival at Weizhou Island, Continue to visit the Crocodile Mountain Scenic Area which is a volcanic national geopark and has the most concentrated landscape of marine abrasion and accumulation geometries. Walk up passing the symbolic towering lighthouse and along the paths to be pleased by the lush tropical grooves and gardens and reach the highest point to marvel at the large area of volcanic lava left and the grand view of the azure sea and layers of falling and rising white spindrift.
Afternoon
Then, be transferred to visit the Catholic Church in Shengtang Village that is a typical Gothic architecture from the French Renaissance period and also the earliest church in whole Beihai City. Have a leisure walk around the church of around 1,000 s.q.m large to soak in the historical architecture built with local corals, rocks and lime, Roman spires and a bell tower, quite eye-catching from afar. You can enter the church to appreciate the dome and the solemn decoration.
The rest of the day is on your own to explore Weizhou Island in Beihai!

Weizhou Island is a volcanic island located 21 nautical miles south from Beihai City, Guangxi Province. In 2005, it was named one of the "Ten Most Beautiful Islands in China" by China National Geographic Magazine. On the south side of Weizhou Island are the high and steep unique volcanic lava landforms. On the north side are the open and smooth coastal beaches. The island has lush vegetation and beautiful scenery which makes it one of the most popular island vacation destinations in China.
Crocodile Mountain Park (鳄鱼山公园)
Also known as Volcano National Geopark. Weizhou Island Crater is famous for its spectacular volcanic lava and is the main scenic spot on Weizhou Island. Volcanic rocks here are in various shapes, making people marvel at the amazing nature.
The park also has the landmark building of the island, the lighthouse (灯塔), which is the fishermen's guard lamp. Standing on the top of the tower, you can look at the blue coast from the highest point, and on a good day, you can faintly see Beihai City on the far bank. Moon Bay Square (月亮湾广场) is another huge viewing platform. Many couples come here and make a vow of love to the sky and the sea.
Dishui Danping (滴水丹屏)
Dishui Danping was formerly known as Dishui Rock. The top of the cliff is shaded by trees. Water overflows from cracks in the upper layers, drip, drip, drip, like a hanging bead curtain. The sea near Dishui Danping is blue and clear. After the ebb tide, the sand is fine and smooth, and there are many people swimming here. Dishui Danping is the one of the best places to enjoy the sunset. On clear days, the setting sun will shine the last brilliance at the end of the day, presenting the most gorgeous glow.
Shiluokou Beach (石螺口沙滩)
Shiluokou is the center of recreation at sea, visitors may try sea speed boats and diving, etc. here. The clean sea water is the most attractive part of Shiluokou. Due to its geographical location, the sediment content here is low, so the sea here is as clear as sapphire. When the weather is fine, the magnificent corals and colorful fishes in the sea can be seen clearly. Shiluokou Beach has a steep slope. The waves are undulating significantly, lapping on the beach. The sea breeze blows lazily and makes people feel comfortable.
Five Colors Beach (五彩滩)
Five Colors Beach is originally known as the Sesame Beach, because there are many colorful rocks all over the beach, dark brown, bright yellow, inkiness black, egg white, which are interlaced and accumulated layer by layer, solidified and immovable, but not rigid, showing lines like water flow. Besides, there is a 2,000-meter-long and 200-meter-wide beach, with black and white sand grains scattered like sesame seeds, which further confirms its name.
Five Colors Beach is also the most suitable place to see the sunrise in the southeast of Weizhou Island, usually 5:00~6:00, the sun rises from the east. Visitors can see the unique volcanic rock sunrise.
Catholic Church on Weizhou Island (天主教堂)
The local people call it Shengtang Catholic Church. This is the earliest church built in Beihai by the French Parisian Missionary Society. The church is a typical French Renaissance Gothic architecture. On an island with a population of just over 10,000 (more than 3, 000 are religious) it is surprising to have a Catholic Church of such a grand scale.
Shell Beach (贝壳海滩)
The Shell Beach is the longest beach on Weizhou Island, starting from the east coast of Weizhou Island and ending at the beach where Lanqiao Pier is located. The island's only roundabout road runs from north to east along the shore of Shell Beach, from the roundabout road can enter shell Beach. There are 3 viewing platforms along Shell Beach. It is suitable for swimming, diving and shellfish gathering. The eastern part of Shell Beach is the best place to see the sunrise, while the northwest part of the beach near Lanqiao Pier is a great place to see the sunset.
Huandao Road / Colorful Road (环岛路 / 彩色公路)
Weizhou Island has a ring road, which is the first tourism dedicated colorful asphalt road in Guangxi. The often mentioned Colorful Road is in one section of Huandao Road, from the reservoir dike on the west corner to Shengtang Village Intersection, through the Shell Beach and the Bird Nature Reserve. It is the only road that can see both beach scenery and subtropical rainforest on Weizhou Island. And because the road is flat, with no steep slope, and the surrounding scenery is stunning, it has become the best section for cycling and hiking.
Geological Museum (地质博物馆)
Weizhou Island National Geological Museum is the first Volcanic Geological Museum built on an island in China. A number of functional areas with different functions including volcanic evolution and relics display have been built in the museum. There are 106 volcanic rock samples from Weizhou Island and 50 volcanic rocks from other places in Guangxi, as well as more than 50 kinds of shells and coral samples.
Sunset
Known as "small Guilin", Jingxi Tongling Grand Canyon is located in Xinling Village, Hurun Town, 32 kilometers southeast of Jingxi County. It is 230 km away from Nanning City, the capital of Guangxi Province, and 29 km away from the Detian waterfall. It is consists of Nianba Gorge, Tongling Gorge, Gulao Groge, Xinling Gorge and Xinqiao Gorge, with a total length of it is more than 10 km. The canyon is a fully enclosed rectangular Gap. It is about 2800 meters long, 200 meters wide and 300 meters deep. The Nianba Gorge is connected with the rivers and tunnels underground, beautiful and elegant, like a beautiful scar on the planet. The canyon turned out to be a blind valley, due to geological movement, the earth at the top of the valley fell, forming a large skylight, surrounded by steep cliffs and spectacular momentum. A variety of vibrant valuable ancient plants, profound valleys, clear streams and green vegetation make it a beautiful spot. It is also connected with the Tongling Waterfall, which is the highest single-stage drop waterfall in Asia with a height of 188 meters.
【Nianba River】
Nianba River originates from Cologne Mountains. It flows slowly down and followed through Tongling Gorge. The water in the river is crystally clear. It is cool in summer and warm in winter.
【Tongling Gorge】
Located in the southern end of Jingxi Tongling Grand Canyon, Tongling Gorge is a fully enclosed rectangular canyon, about 1000 meters long, over 200 meters wide and 300 meters deep. The valley is covered with primitive trees, surrounded by cliffs sharp as a knife, also next to the ramps of overgrown trees. The entire valley was filled with refreshing aura. There are blends of more than two thousand kinds of plants, many of which are rare plants protected by the nation.
【Gulao Canyon】
The Highest mountain in Tongling Gorge is Gulong Mount, with an elevation of 1034.8 m. The canyon is abundant of water and plant resources. The forest coverage rate of the canyon reaches 65.76%. There are about 800 spices of animal and plats, many of which are rare creatures protected by the nation.
【Tongling Huge Waterfalls】
Tongling Huge Waterfalls is 168 meters tall and 30 meters wide, is the tallest waterfall ever seen in southwest China. It hangs over the mountains and falls straight down like a large piece of whitened silk, giving out thunder-like tone. It generates millions of water drops that appear to cover up the sky with bug. When the sun lights above the fog, gorgeous rainbows show up. To the left of the waterfall are the old revoked funeral places. The waterfall falls into a 50-meter-wide deep pool area, which is the origin of water ways in the gorge and underground streams in the cavern. These rivers and streams again shape a huge underground river leading to a new waterfall. Four huge caves are at the entry of the underground river. The caves are deep and bent. If tourists rise 30 meters up the climbing ladder alongside the cliff, they will find out an underground river flowing, falling down along the cliff, and developing into different levels of smaller but crystal clear waterfalls. On the top of the first-level waterfall there are large and various-shaped stalactites. The scenery made of calcareous rock is particularly wonderful.
Ranks as the largest waterfall in Asia and the fourth largest transnational waterfall in the world, Detian Waterfall is located in the Detian village, Shuolong Town, Daxin Coutny, Chongzuo City near Nanning City with its splendid scenery.
The Detian Waterfall is over 200 meters wide and has a drop of more than 70 meters. The average annual flow of the waterfall is 50 cubic meters per second, and the geology of the area is thick layered dolomite. Its water rushes down a three-tiered cliff with tremendous force. The fall is awe-inspiring, and its thunder is audible before it even comes into view.
Landscape
The changing seasons transform the natural scenery of Detian Waterfall throughout the year. In spring, the flame-red blossoms of the kapok trees that surround the waterfall are in full bloom, symbolizing success. Throughout the autumn months, though, the area around the waterfall turns golden-yellow, creating a harvest scene. In the summer, visitors feel a complete freedom of mind and ease of spirit as they see the waters of the fall cascade with the momentum force of an avalanche. During winter, on the other hand, the fall's clear water drops slowly, making visitors feel even-tempered and good-humored. The Detian Waterfall appears to be a sculpture made by nature.
Beauty of Detian waterfall is irregular change that in morning, at noon, at night, all show elegantly magnificent vivid beautiful scenery. At noon the sun is shining, in the hundreds of meters wide cliff, giant waterfall like the sea, ups and downs for 50 meters; the collision voice echoed in the mountain stream, audible from a far distance. When sun set, the sun just hangs above the waterfall, the high waterfall in silver shade like hanging silk curtain, and the orange sunset and glow is so beautiful in the front of silver waterfall. Early in the morning, with any luck, you can see the beauty of the rainbow and silver waterfall show at the same time. Waterfall clash into valley, splash make fog in the mountain; and in that time with the raising of sun in the east, waterfall fog become rainbow due to sun refraction.
Environment
Detian waterfall is located in the upstream of Guichunhe River in Daxin County, about 50 meters from the No. 53 boundary tablet between China and Vietnam. Clear Guichunhe River is tributary of Zuojiang River, is also the China-Vietnam Border River, and Detian waterfall is masterpiece when it flows through Putang Island. Waterfall levels drop, maximum width of more than 200 meters, more than 60 meters depth, drops 70 meters, average annual flow of 50 cubic meters per second, and local geology is thick bedded dolostone. It is the largest natural waterfall in southeast Asia, listed as a special attraction by the state.
Ming-shi Countryside, a celebrated landscape gallery, is near to the Sino-Vietnam border in Kanyu Town, Daxin County, some 37 kilometers to Detian Waterfall and 210 kilometers to Nanning- the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. What to Eat
Yunnanese food splits broadly into three cooking styles. In the north, the cold, pastoral lifestyle produces dried meats and – very unusually for China – dairy products, fused with a Muslim cuisine, a vestige of the thirteenth-century Mongolian invasion. Typical dishes include wind-cured ham (火腿, huŏtuĭ), sweetened, steamed and served with slices of bread; dried cheese or yoghurt wafers (乳扇, rŭshān or 乳饼, rŭbǐng); the local version of crisp-skinned duck (烧鸭, shāoyā), flavoured with Sichuan peppercorns – you’ll see drum-shaped duck ovens outside many restaurants – and a tasty fish claypot (沙锅鱼, shāguō yú).
Eastern Yunnan produces the most recognizably “Chinese” food. From here comes chicken flavoured with medicinal herbs and stewed inside a specially shaped earthenware steamer (气锅鸡, qìguōjī), and perhaps the province’s most celebrated dish, crossing-the-bridge noodles (过桥米线, guòqiáo mǐxiàn), a sort of individualized hotpot eaten as a cheap snack; you pay by the size of the bowl. The curious name comes from a tale of a Qing scholar who retired every day to a lakeside pavilion to compose poetry. His wife, an understanding soul, used to cook him lunch, but the food always cooled as she carried it from their home over the bridge to where he studied – until she hit on the idea of keeping the heat in with a layer of oil on top of his soup.
Not surprisingly, Yunnan’s south is strongly influenced by Burmese, Lao and Thai cooking methods, particularly in the use of such un-Chinese ingredients as lime juice, coconut, palm sugar, cloves and turmeric. Here you’ll find a vast range of soups and stews, roughly recognizable as curries, displayed in aluminium pots outside fast-turnover restaurants, and oddities such as purple rice-flour pancakes sold at street markets. The south is also famous in China for producing good coffee and red pu’er, Yunnan’s best tea.
