A postdoctoral training position is available in the BioMedical Imaging Research Lab (BiMIR) led by Dr. Jiaen Liu in the Advanced Imaging Research Center (AIRC) at UT Southwestern Medical Center to develop advanced high resolution MRI methods for neuroimaging applications.
BiMIR has several exciting projects related to advanced imaging technical development for in vivo histology (quantitative ultrahigh-field [7T] and high-resolution MRI [T2, T2* and MT, myelin and iron]), cortical laminar structural and functional MRI and neuro-fluid imaging. Applications include multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, and brain tumor, with ongoing established collaboration.
Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or other related fields. Required qualification also includes deep knowledge in MRI physics and imaging principles, strong motivation and interpersonal skills, proficient programming skills (C/C++, MATLAB, etc), and MRI pulse sequence programming experience (Philips preferred).
AIRC is a world-renowned imaging research center with cutting edge facilities and collaboration in basic and clinical research throughout the UTSW campus. AIRC is equipped with multiple research-dedicated MR scanners, including one human 7 T (Philips), three human 3 T (Philips, Siemens and GE) and three small animal MRI (4.7T, 7 T, 9.4T), an RF engineering lab, etc.
