The QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute is located in Brisbane, Queensland, and is one of Australia's most successful medical research institutes, translating discoveries from bench to bedside for a better future of health.
QIMR jointly implements PhD training programs with biomedical departments of world-renowned universities such as the University of Queensland (UQ) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in the research fields of cancer, infectious diseases, and mental health.
Now two PhD positions are available immediately in the Post-treatment Cancer Immunobiology Research Laboratory led by A/Prof. J Hou. Adding to the ideal platform for immunobiology research, the Hou Lab provides well-established research systems and projects for PhD training.
About the PI
A/Prof. Hou is the Group Leader of the Post-treatment Cancer Immunobiology Laboratory of QIMR’s Cancer Research Program.
He worked as a clinician researcher at world-renowned cancer centres such as the University of Chicago Ben May Cancer Centre and Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Centre, with a research focus on Cancer Immunobiology and Immunotherapy.
As the lead author, he published inprestigious journals including Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, Nature Reviews Immunology, Nature Communications, Journal of Hepatologyand Hepatology.
In the light of therapy-induced or organ-specific cues in the cancer microenvironment, the Hou Lab leverages genetically modified mice and clinical samples for cellular-and-molecular immunology-based high-throughput analyses, thus delving into the mechanism of how the acquired inflammation and epigenetic regulation impose therapy response or resistance.
