On November 23, Chongqing Industrial Vocational and Technical College released a statement addressing online rumors about the alleged recycling of "gutter oil" at the school’s commercial street:
Following an investigation, it was confirmed that the school’s property management team had signed a contract with Chongqing Yuying Sanitation Service Co., Ltd. for the collection and disposal of used cooking oil and grease waste. This company is a legitimate operator for the transportation and treatment of kitchen waste ("gutter oil") that won its bid through a government tender process.
To minimize the impact of unpleasant odors on students and businesses, both parties agreed to clean at least three times a week, scheduling the work for nighttime hours. On the evening of November 22, the company conducted cleaning operations on the school’s grease traps and sewage pipelines.
Some individuals, however, posted false information about the incident on online platforms, disrupting social order and creating misinformation in cyberspace. The college urges everyone not to believe or spread rumors and to work together to maintain a clean and positive online environment.
