Over 40 pet dogs have reportedly died from suspected poisoning in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, according to a statement issued by the Guangdong Pet Industry Association.
The association revealed on Saturday that it had received numerous reports of suspected poisoning cases across several districts in Guangzhou, with Baiyun, Haizhu and Panyu districts seeing a higher number of cases.
In response, the association has activated an emergency response mechanism and launched an investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that most poisoning incidents occurred around November 8.
A special task force has been established to collaborate closely with police in resolving the cases.
The association has also urged the public to report any relevant information or leads to public security authorities or the association itself.
