在《Most Likely to Succeed（极有最大可能性成功）》一书中，哈佛学者Tony Wagner给出了教育的⽬的：
The purpose of education is to encourage students with their passions and growing sense of purpose, teach them critical skills needed for career and citizenship, and inspire them to do their very best to make their world better.
（1）⿎励学⽣要有热情和不断增⻓的⽬标感，
（2）教授他们社会和公⺠⾝份所需的关键技能，
（3）并激励他们尽最⼤努⼒让他们的世界变得更加美好。
他又进一步把三个目的分解为六个目标：
teach students cognitive and social skills.
prepare students to be responsible, contributing citizens.
build character.
help students in a process of self-discovery.
inspire students through the study of humanity's great works.
prepare students for productive careers.
