PART 01
工作介绍

Australia is leading the development of renewables, thereby expediting decarbonisation to combat climate change. However, remote communities are still facing an energy crisis with shortages of electricity and unstable power systems. Developing and constructing microgrids with distributed renewable power generators and distributed/community energy storage systems is a promising solution. This project aims to design a reliable islanded microgrid with sufficient renewables and compatible energy storage, and further develop optimal operation and control strategies to enhance system stability and operational robustness.

The project will cover long-term economic planning of islanded microgrids, short-term optimal dispatch of distributed energy resources (DERs) and real-time control considering system stability. Novel models of microgrid systems and DERs and efficient optimisation methods will be proposed and validated for practical use.

  • Research location: Electrical and Computer Engineering


PART 03
工作条件
  • A scholarship for 3.5 years at the RTP stipend rate (currently $40,109 in 2024). International applicants will have their tuition fees covered.

PART 04
申请要求
  • Have a Bachelors degree (1st class honours or equivalent) or a Masters degree in Power Systems. Expected degree completion/award by June 2025 can be considered.

  • Strong background in power system planning, operation and control, and optimisation theory.

  • Research track record in the following topics (at least one):

    o OPF or EMS of microgrids

    o Power system stability and control

    o Power system dynamics and real-time simulation

    o Modelling and operation of community battery or hydrogen electrolyser

    o Advanced optimisation methods for power systems

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish top-tier international journal articles.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. University English proficiency requirements.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors and research peers.
