Ticket sales for the upcoming tour of the musical phenomenon Les Miserables will open today!
The longest-running musical in London's West End, Les Miserables was also the first Western musical production to tour China, with 21 performances held at the Shanghai Grand Theatre in 2002.
Earlier this year, Shanghai Media Group announced that the musical will come back to the Shanghai Grand Theatre. This will be the first return of the show in 23 years, and Shanghai will mark the only stop on the Chinese mainland for this round of the show's global tour.
Based on the novel of the same title by French author Victor Hugo (1802-1885), the musical Les Miserables was created by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, and produced by Cameron Mackintosh. Since its premiere at the Babican Centre in London in 1985, the musical has toured 442 cities in 53 countries and regions. With productions in 22 languages, the musical has received more than 130 million audiences.
