Shanghai's Airport Link Line will start its initial operations on Dec 27.
The line will serve as an east-west backbone of Shanghai, with trains designed for speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour, enabling a 40-minute connection between Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport.
The line spans approximately 59 km and includes seven stations:
The base fare for the line is set at 4 yuan (55 cents). Fares are calculated by multiplying the distance traveled by the per kilometer rate. The fare will default to the base rate if the computed fare is equal to or below 4 yuan; otherwise, it is calculated via the specified formula, resulting in a full journey cost from Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 to Pudong International Airport Terminal 1&2 of 26 yuan.
During the initial operation phase, the line will run as a single route with a 15-minute frequency between trains.
