Audrey Hepburn (1929–1993), a famous Hollywood actress renowned for her iconic roles in classics like Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and My Fair Lady, is featured in an exhibition in Shanghai running from Dec 15 to March 8, 2025.
The exhibition, called Intimate Audrey, is curated by her son Sean Hepburn Ferrer and features over 1,200 rare items — many appearing in China for the first time.
It portrays Hepburn as a modern, independent woman through a series of movie posters, the original Vespa scooter from Roman Holiday, and personal items such as dresses and letters.
Delving into Hepburn's personal world, the exhibition unveils never-before-seen treasures, including Givenchy's custom perfume L'Interdit, her iconic dresses, and rare personal items such as intimate drawings, letters, and even her passport.
Visitors can learn about Hepburn's upbringing, early career challenges, and her unwavering resilience in the face of adversity and wartime turmoil.
The exhibition also highlights Hepburn's personal life, showcasing her happiest moments, from her marriage to the birth of her son. Items like her son's christening gown and willow cradle are also on display.
In addition, the exhibition honors Hepburn's humanitarian work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view her second Oscar trophy, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, alongside a moving collection of photos and videos reflecting her dedication to making a difference in the world.
