NOW WELCOMING GUESTS TO A SPECTACULAR AND SUSTAINABLE HOSPITALITY EXPERIENCE ON HAINAN ISLAND

Accor announced the opening of Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay and Grand Mercure Sanya Yalong Bay – two unique hotels creating a spectacular and sustainable resort community amid the tropical beauty of Hainan Island. Guests are invited to discover a diverse mix of the vitality-infused hospitality experiences of Swissôtel and the Grand Mercure ethos of embracing local cultural traditions. Ideal for both business and leisure travelers, the resort is centrally located in Yalong Bay, next to the Baihua Valley International Shopping Center. The two properties are connected by a stone bridge and feature traditional Chinese architectural elements infused with coastal charm.

“Together with Huayu Group, Accor is proud to bring two of our premium brands to Yalong Bay, bringing fresh energy to the hospitality scene and adding to our growing presence across Hainan Island,” said Gary Rosen, CEO, Accor Greater China. “Pairing Swissôtel and Grand Mercure together in one of the most beautiful beach destinations in the world gives us the opportunity and space to welcome families, corporate retreats, and celebrations, while meeting the growing interest of Chinese travelers for eco-responsible experiences in beautiful and culturally rich resort destinations.”

The Yalong Bay National Resort Area is one of China’s top tourist destinations – a much-loved tropical seaside experience with pristine white sand beaches, swaying palm trees, azure water, and gentle mountain vistas. At the new centrally-located Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay and Grand Mercure Sanya Yalong Bay, hotel guests enjoy a short 5-minute walk to the beach, where exclusive guest amenities include dining options, a kids' center, wellness, and leisure facilities. The resort is a mere 20-minute drive to Yalong Bay High-Speed Railway Station, and is within 40 minutes to Sanya Phoenix International Airport.

The dual-branded resort blends modern design and ecological sensibilities with authentic Chinese elements and cultural traditions. Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay embraces the island’s aesthetics to create a captivating atmosphere. The hotel's shell-shaped exterior draws inspiration from Hainan's rich marine resources and reverence for nature, combining ocean elements with architectural design for a striking visual impact. Grand Mercure Sanya Yalong Bay celebrates Chinese culture while integrating modern elements. Surrounding both hotels is a lush backdrop of coconut groves and tranquil gardens, resembling a royal garden, with an abundance of water features and rare tropical foliage, such as banyan trees, tamarind trees, and dragon blood trees.

At the Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay, 458 guestrooms and suites are styled with intelligent design, quality craftsmanship and mindful approach to sustainability. Poolside rooms invite guests to enjoy the serene lagoon pool and warm sunlight right from their rooms, while charming family-friendly rooms with warm colors and playful kids’ amenities are the perfect choice for memorable vacations.

Grand Mercure Sanya Yalong Bay offers 124 rooms that blend Chinese classical charm with modern comfort. The minimalist yet elegant design, combined with Chinese decorative elements, ensures a warm and refined atmosphere. Guests will appreciate the quiet, sensory guest experience of this stunning property, with a beautiful white sand beach just down the road, and a short stroll through the gardens to enjoy the lively amenities and dining options of Swissôtel.

Guests of both Grand Mercure and Swissôtel enjoy a variety of culinary experiences across four distinctive restaurants and bars located at Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay. The brand is renowned for its vitality breakfasts, which are served alongside a rich variety of cuisine that features Hainanese favorites and Swiss delicacies that have become Swissôtel brand signatures. Guests of both hotels also enjoy the resort’s comprehensive leisure facilities, including two outdoor swimming pools and one heated pool, allowing guests to enjoy swimming year-round. A Kid’s Club at Swissôtel is a joyful space for children, complete with its own pool. The hotel offers traditional Chinese physiotherapy, a spa, as well as a fitness center.

Yalong Bay is a popular destination for business travelers and retreats, as the district continues to increase its trade and economic openness. For meetings and events, Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay offers an impressive 2,377 square meters of space, including the largest event room in Yalong Bay – a grand banquet hall of 1,300 square meters – plus 12 multifunctional rooms. The unique "curved water & flowing wine" design outside the banquet hall adds a cultural touch, complementing the nearby, "Three Dragons Spitting Water," which symbolizes prosperity and good fortune.

Protecting the natural ecosystems and biodiversity of Hainan Island is of utmost importance to Accor. The new Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay and Grand Mercure Sanya Yalong Bay hotels will adhere to Accor’s sustainable business model in Greater China, which focuses on minimizing carbon emissions, reducing food waste, and shifting consumer mindsets toward more responsible choices. These two resorts will actively engage in initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies while fostering a commitment to conservation and environmental protection. By creating safe, healthy, and eco-friendly environments, they aim to enrich the guest experience and contribute positively to the local community and the preservation of Hainan Island's unique natural heritage.

Accor continues to expand the presence of both Swissôtel and Grand Mercure across Greater China. In 2024, a total of seven new Grand Mercure hotels were added in Hangzhou, Changzhou, Lushan, Kunming, Shiyan, Sanya, and a new flagship in Wuhan. With 26 Grand Mercure hotels in operation and 30+ more in development, new openings in 2025 will include Shenyang and Wuxi. Meanwhile, Swissôtel aims to double its footprint in Greater China, with a current total of eight destinations in operation, plus another eight in development.
