Photos courtesy of LEGOLAND John Jakobsen, chief strategic portfolio development officer at Merlin Entertainments, operator of the LEGOLAND Shenzhen Resort, visited the theme park's construction site in Dapeng New Area last week alongside his team. “Looking back over the past year, the construction of the Shenzhen resort has been progressing positively, brick by brick, with a strong focus on creating a safe and high-quality experience filled with creativity and imagination for everyone. Construction of the themed areas within the park is nearing completion in terms of civil construction,” Jakobsen said. The signature themed area, LEGOLAND Creative World, has seen positive progress. The main structure in this zone, the largest building in the park, has entered the topping-out phase of construction, Jakobsen said. “Anticipating 2025, the LEGOLAND Shenzhen Resort is entering an accelerated phase, constantly building for fun,” he added. Additionally, work on surrounding transportation projects and park infrastructure is underway. Dapeng New Area is accelerating the construction of more than 20 supporting projects, including hotels, expressways, parks, and public amenities, with a total investment of 30 billion yuan (US$4.09 billion). As the first international IP-based family theme park resort in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the LEGOLAND Shenzhen Resort will be the world's largest LEGOLAND upon completion. Designed for families with children aged 2 to 12, the resort will feature a theme park, a water park, and three themed hotels, offering over 100 interactive rides, shows, and attractions. Construction began in 2021. The main structure of the Xinda parking lot for Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Railway Dapeng Branch has been topped out.
