The Autumn Flower Fair commenced Friday at the Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden in Luohu District and will continue until Dec. 1. With 15,000 square meters of stunning floral displays at the South Gate and along the pathways leading to popular attractions such as Paradise Scenery and Linden Lawn, the fair showcases more than 200 varieties of flowers, including daisies, hydrangeas, lavender, and verbenas.
Exciting events, including concerts, poetry readings, traditional music flash mobs, and Hanfu fashion shows, will take place Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Additionally, nearly 30 booths featuring food and cultural artifacts have been set up on-site to enhance visitors' experience.
Dazzling floral displays spanning 15,000 square meters adorn key locations at the garden.
Ticketed entry to the garden is available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., while free access is granted from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at 15 yuan (US$2.07) for adults, and children under 6 years old or shorter than 1.2 meters can enter for free. Tickets can be purchased via the Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden's official WeChat account (深圳市仙湖植物园).
Due to limited parking at the garden's entrance, visitors are encouraged to use public transportation. The nearest Metro station is Xianhu Road Station on Line 2 and 8.
Construction of the Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden began in 1983, and it opened to the public May 1, 1988. At that time, it was the largest public park in Shenzhen and the largest botanical garden in China. It features Fairy Lake, the Eleven-arch Bridge, and approximately 2,000 plant species.
The botanical garden was selected as a national 4A-rated scenic spot by the national tourism administration in 2007 and was named a national key park by the housing and urban-rural development ministry the following year.
