My dear Phillipine audience When the new music director of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, great conductor and friend Grzegorz Nowak with whom I have performed more then 20 different piano concertos in the last 40 years, asked me whether I would considera concert in Manila,I gladly agreed to start discussions about it.asked,however, that before we announce any dates to discuss details first with the people running the orchestra, making sure that we can solve the logistic challenges ofpiano transports, tuners and many othersnecessary for me to assure quality. I'm hearing that some concerts have been announced in Manila, but unfortunately there has been no attempt to contact me inorder to assure that such concerts are possible. regret to say that until today, 18 January(so less then 10 days before rehearsals)nobody has tried to contact me and unfortunately my tuner, technician and other people making my trip possible couldn't wait longer and they have resigned from participating in anundertaking about which I could supply them with no information. write this in order to prevent the use of the term "cancellation" which could be misused by a relatively small group of unserious journalists who are viciously interested to destroy my good name. want to state once more that I never confirmed any concerts because was never contacted by any body except myfriend the conductor, who generally askedabout my willingness to participate in suchan undertaking.
