On October 17, more than 250 US business leaders and government officials from both the US and China gathered at AmCham Shanghai's 21st Annual Government Dinner. US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns and Shanghai Vice Mayor Xie Dong attended the event. The event highlighted the positive contribution of US businesses in China and served as a platform for dialogue between the business community and the government.Eric Zheng, President of AmCham Shanghai, hosted the dinner and expressed gratitude to both the US and Chinese governments for their support of the US business community in China. Allan Gabor, Chair of AmCham Shanghai, emphasized in his remarks that American companies are among the most compliant and contribute significantly to the sustainable development of both countries. Ambassador Burns, on his 10th visit to Shanghai since 2022, highlighted the city's dynamism as a major attraction, describing Shanghai as a prime example of the importance of people-to-people exchanges.![]()
Shanghai Vice Mayor Xie Dong expressed gratitude to AmCham Shanghai for actively serving as a bridge between the government and businesses and for organizing this dinner. She hopes that US companies will continue to offer suggestions to help improve Shanghai's business environment and stated that the government will continue to provide a favorable development space that is market-oriented, international, and governed by the rule of law.
