设问导入主题: What drives people to explore the sea？

（1）Read for the structure
先识别文章体裁What is the text type of two passages？
再解析体裁的结构 Do you know what part does an argumentive essay usually consist of？Now please read again and find out the arguments and evidences.
拿文章1做样本（本文有两篇平行文本，观点虽不同，但结构差不多）Take task one for example, an effective way to locate them is to find out the topic sentence of each paragraph.
As we can see in paragraph 1, the writer states that sea exploration has caused many problems and will continue to cause more in paragraph 2 and 3 and 4.
He lists the three main reasons to support his argument. Namely, more exploration means more pollution. Mining for resources is very damaging, especially in the Arctic. Over fishing is another problem.
In the end, the writer stresses the significance of the ocean and call on the readers to protect it. Apparently, the writer is against the ocean exploration.
Now please read it again, focus on the language and find out what writing method are employed to successfully achieve the writing purpose.

In Chinese, we call it 驳论. In English we call it refutation. Sometimes we first state the opposite of view and try to use evidence to correct the wrong opinion. In this way, our own argument is more persuasive and solid. In addition, the writer uses some effort stress his point.
