In her mixed-media painting Deliberative assembly (manos puras) (2021), for example, a green manicured hand reaches out nonsensically from a painterly sweep of yellow. Holding a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the Yale School of Art, Savdie had her first solo show at ltd los angeles in 2019 and has exhibited internationally in various group shows. She also participated in a NXTHVN Residency under the guidance of artist Titus Kaphar. Savdie is inspired by exaggerated carnivalesque aesthetics and colliding bodies, drawing on scenes she witnessed as a child growing up in Barranquilla, Colombia, which hosts a major annual Carneval.
