【思中故事081】思中记忆

这是三十几年前的事了，那时候思南中学还没有教师食堂，单身老师的用餐有些麻烦，老师们一般都是自己开伙，或是用电炉，或是用煤油炉。学校为了解决我们几个年轻教师的吃饭问题而办了教师食堂。说是教师食堂，实际上只是一间不足二十平米的老旧房间，位于当时的马蹄形实验楼下。学校还专门从外面聘请了一位厨师。厨师工资由学校经费解决，教师自己只负责生活费，后来又有几位老教师加入了我们这支干饭队伍，队伍中除了勾正伦老师（化学），李谭（历史老师），王道凡老师（数学）等几位年轻老师以外，还有时任学生生活老师王心诚老师，化学老师古连仲老师，总共七八个人。古老师不到四十岁，他和王心诚老师都是老教师了，每天聚餐时他们说话的风趣幽默和笑声给了我们无穷的快乐，让刚下课时的疲惫完全没有了。我们几个每天下班后就在这小小的教师食堂等候，我们用餐都还挺准时，很少有姗姗来迟的。下课时分，大厨会把菜端到桌上，饭桌是一张老式的小方桌，凳子也是古色古香的，很有些年代了，其中有一条凳子还是原来的苏式凳子，看起来特别厚重，土红色的油漆都磨掉一大半了。在这里大家有说有笑，一起等待，顺便还可以聊一下各自的教学感受和见闻。这在今天想起来仍然无比温暖，身在学校就好比在自己的家一样！

This was about 30 years ago. At that time, there was no teachers’ canteen in Sinan High School, and the single teachers used to have some trouble taking dinner. The teachers usually started their own meals, either using simple electric appliances, or most often, kerosene stoves. In order to solve the problem, our school leaders really did something. Soon a teachers' canteen came into being. In fact, the canteen was just an old room of less than 20 square meters, located in one of the houses below the horseshoe laboratory building. Also a chef was hired, who was paid by the school. We teachers only needed to pay for the cost of the meals. Among the teachers regularly taking food were Gou Zhenglun (chemistry teacher)，Li Tan(history teacher) and Wang Daofan(maths teacher). And it was not long before several older teachers joined us, including Gu Lianzhong, also a chemistry teacher and Wang Xingcheng, who was in charge of the boarding students, with a total of no more than eight people. Mr Gu was less than 40 years old, yet he and Wang Xincheng belonged to the old teachers. Every day they gave us endless happiness with their humorous speeches, so that the fatigue after class ended in no time. We were all quite on time, seldom late for dinner. Usually after class, the chef would bring the dishes to the table. The table was a small old square one, and the stools were old-fashioned, too, one of which was in Soviet style, looking particularly heavy, the red paint more than half worn off. Here we talked and laughed, waiting together. At the same time, we could also chat about what we had seen and heard on the campus as well as in our teaching. This feels still very warm even today. The school is really like our own home!

大学刚刚毕业的时候，虽说我们已经当老师了，是成年人了，但心理上其实跟学生一样，就是特别喜欢出去玩，玩的机会自然就是郊游了。年轻时感觉自己精力旺盛，充满活力，几乎每学期都要和同学们一起春游或秋游。记得和九二届学生游印江大圣墩（现在的睡美人），那时县与县之间学生经常会出现一些小摩擦，如不加以引导和控制，很容易发展成打架斗殴事件，幸运的是那天晚上两个班的学生干部自发组织夜间巡逻队，轮流值班，守护同学们的安全，使得那次印江之行顺利完成。另一次让我记忆犹新的就是和九四届学生游梵净山，在出发前同学们满口答应上山后不乱跑，承诺到达金顶脚下后一起登上“天空之城”，可是等我到达时，部分同学都已经上金顶好几次了！好在这次登山最后顺利结束，有惊无险。不过最令人难忘的还是在思中和初中弟子们一起郊游。初中孩子们的无拘无束、天真烂漫让人回味无穷。那时候郊游地点时常是小溪旁，乌江边，或者是爬一座小山。郊游过程中同学们还表演相声，唱歌、舞蹈等，有的同学玩后滚翻，还有的学生实在没什么节目，就搞个鲤鱼打挺。有的学生没玩尽兴，与老师拉钩，要老师答应他们下一次去一个更好玩的地方，我敢肯定他们相信了老师的许诺。初中娃娃就是这样：特别信任老师，喜欢与老师交朋友，如果老师说话没有算数，他们可能真的会不高兴，很有可能不再理你了！真想回到和孩子们一起度过的那段快乐时光。回到那个不知何为愁苦的少年时代！

At the time I graduated from college, I was energetic and full of vitality. Every semester we would have a spring or autumn outing. Though a teacher, an adult, we were actually very much like students, enjoying going out to play. Of course, the opportunity to play was often an outing. I still remember I went travelling with students in 1992, to Dashengdun in Yin Jiang, now known as the Sleeping Beauty. At that time students from different parts often had some small frictions, which, if not correctly guided and controlled, would develop into fights. Fortunately that night student cadres from the two classes organized a patrol, who took turns on duty to ensure the safety of the students, making this trip a success. Another time I remember is the 1994 student tour to Fanjing Mountain. Before the departure, the students all promised not to run up the mountain, agreeing to reach the foot of the mount before we were to climb together to explore the "the city in the sky". However, when I arrived, some students had been to the top several times! To the relief of everyone, the climb to Fanjing Mountain ended smoothly. But the most unforgettable trips were the ones with the junior high school students in Sinan High School. Junior high school children were free, innocent and naive. Our outing destinations were often by a stream or near the Wujiang River, or we could climb a hill for a change. During the course of the outings the children would make performances, including crosstalks, singing, dancing, backward rolls, etc.. Some, who had nothing to show, even played carp flip. Some students who didn't play to the full, would turn to the teacher and had a pinky-swear, trying to persuade the teacher to promise them to go to a more interesting place the next time. I am sure they believed the teacher's promise. Such are junior high school children: They especially believe in the teachers, and like to be friends with them, too. If the teacher doesn’t mean what he or she says, they may really be unhappy, and most probably they would no longer turn to you for anything! I am really eager to go back to the happy time I spent with the children. How I wish to go back to the hours when we did not know what worry or sadness was!

最近有一部正在播出的电视连续剧《春风化雨》特别火，剧中铜江市第十四中学上晚自习的情景让我想起了思南中学的晚自习。上晚自习是多年来思中以及很多县级中学的传统，但思中上晚自习的做法并非从来就有的，我在思中读书的时候没有严格要求上晚自习，但这对学生来说需要极高的自觉性。要想学到东西，自律很重要。开始的时候上晚自习的学校不是特别多，后来被普遍效仿。在我记忆中，我们那时候晚上学生也上自习，但老师不用下班讲课。记得有一天晚上邓光前校长巡视自习课情况，校长刚转身离开，班上有两个同学就开始做鬼脸，有个同学还大声讲笑话，没想到邓校长立即杀了个回马枪，吓得这位同学脸都红了，还以为自己要被罚。

那时候思中多数教室都还保留着苏式的桌椅，两个学生一桌，桌子和椅子是紧紧连在一起的，带斜面的课桌古朴而又厚重，且显几分洋气，特别是那靠背非常舒服，上课时你可以大大方方地靠在上面，安全而又舒适。晚上自习时疲倦了，可以把脸贴在带斜面的课桌上打个盹，十分惬意。但这种课桌也有它的不足，那就是挪动起来特别费劲，打扫卫生极不方便。

Recently, a TV series "Sowers of Hope" being broadcast is going viral. The scene where students in No. 14 Tongjiang Middle School have evening lessons reminds me of the evening study in Sinan High School. Night study is the tradition of many middle schools in the county, but there was no such practice until recent years. During the three years of my study here night study was not strictly required, but the students had to be self-disciplined, which was very important to learn something. There were not many schools doing so, but they were widely followed later. In my memory, at that time students did not need to study long in the evening, and the teacher did not have to give lessons. I still remember one evening, when the principal Deng Guangqian made his rounds to the classes. The principal just turned to leave when two students in the class began to make faces, a classmate also starting to loudly tell jokes. Very soon, the principal returned. The student, who thought he was to be punished, was wearing a red face. 

At that time, most of the desks and chairs in our school were still in Soviet style. Two students shared a set of desk, of which the desk and chair were tightly connected, with an angular surface and of some foreign flavour, comfortably fit for taking a nap. Old and heavy, it was especially comfortable for you to write and read, or you could lean against the backrest in class, leisurely and safe. But this desk also has its shortcomings. It is particularly difficult to move, and doing cleaning is also very inconvenient. 

在思南中学的校园一角，有一栋教学楼，因其周围桃树成林，得名桃园教学楼。桃园教学楼为砖木结构，青砖墙体上有一道道白色线条，春天桃花盛开，满园春色，大有世外桃源，人间仙境之感！如果你是初来思南中学，一定会以为这是某大学校园一隅，或是某著名书院而流连忘返！正如思南中学校歌中所写：五老峰下，乌江之滨，思南中学，春色满园…。思南中学桃园教学楼，原是老思中的一栋主体教学楼，这里典雅而宁静，是个学子们求知的好地方。有一段时间，桃园楼被用作高三毕业班专用教室。与高一高二完全分开，互不干扰。特别是到了高三下学期，桃园楼教室里的灯通宵亮着，整夜都有学生进进岀出，大家都在为自己的高考努力拼搏，有的人喜欢前半夜学习，有的人则适合后半夜加码，总之，调节好自已的生物钟就可以了。千千万万的学子从桃园走出去，奔向全国各地，乃至走出国门。思中《桃源》校刊的命名也取其深刻的含义。思中的桃园，真可以称得上永远的桃李之源！

In a corner at the back of the old school campus stands a teaching building with the name the Taoyuan Teaching Building. It's so called only because the building is surrounded with peach trees.It is a two-storeyed brick-wood building, with black bricks and white lines.When spring comes, all peach trees are in blossom,making it spring everywhere in the garden, as if a land of idyllic beauty, even a fairyland! If it is the first time you have been here, you might have thought it belongs to a certain university, or a famous academy of classical learning, which makes it hard for you to get away from it! Just as what is written in the Anthem of Sinan High School, At the foot of the Wulao Mounts, on the bank of the Wu Jiang River is Sinan High School, which enjoys a scene of all spring... The Taoyuan Teaching Building used to be part of the main teaching buildings. Elegant and serene, It is a perfect place for students to study. There was a time when the building was used as a studying place specially for Grade 3 students. Completely separated from the other buildings, students here wouldn't be interrupted. When it was the last semester, the classrooms were brightly lit the whole night, with students coming and going, all making the best of their time to prepare for the coming college entrance exam! Some preferred to study before midnight while others were used to learning after midnight. In a word, if you have the right biological clock, you will have no problem. Thousands and thousands of students have graduated from here and they are now studying and working in every part of the country, even abroad. Taoyuan, the school magazine enjoys the good reputation also because it conveys a profound meaning. It is really a place, a forever source for so many diligent, talented and promising students!
