He led a massive fleet on seven voyages to visit many countries and regions in the western Pacific and Indian Oceans, deepening mutual understanding between China and Southeast Asia as well as East Africa. Zheng He's voyages to the west played a very positive role in promoting economic and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, as well as making enormous contributions to maintaining regional peace.
