The building's glass volume floats above the natural landscape, blending in with its surroundings while maximizing panoramic views of the Cascade Mountains. Located on the edge of the preserve, residents will have easy access to world-class skiing and mountain biking, embracing the high desert's active lifestyle.
建筑的玻璃体量悬浮于自然景观之上，如同轻盈地漂浮在大地上，巧妙地与周围环境融为一体，同时最大程度地摄取了喀斯喀特山脉的全景视野。它位于保护区边缘，住户可便捷畅享世界级的滑雪和山地自行车区域，尽情拥抱高沙漠地区的活力生活方式。
The design team cleverly responded to the significantly sloping terrain, breaking down the house's volume to fit the human scale and ensuring unobstructed views while minimizing the footprint. The residence’s expressive material choices include glass, steel, cedar, and local basalt, which are combined to blend seamlessly into the rugged high desert landscape.
设计团队巧妙应对显著的坡度地形，将房屋体量进行分解，以适应人体尺度，并在最小化占地面积的同时，确保视野毫无遮挡。住宅的材料选择极具表现力，采用玻璃、钢材、雪松和当地玄武岩等，通过这些材料的组合，使建筑与崎岖的高沙漠景观完美融合。
A long straight driveway runs perpendicular to the front facade of the building. This low-key entrance design reduces the impact on the site and cleverly hides the vast space inside the building. It is not until you enter that you will be amazed at the name 'The Expanse'.
一条长长的直车道垂直于建筑正立面，这种低调的入口设计方式，减少了对场地的影响，同时也巧妙地隐藏了建筑内部的广阔空间，直到进入其中，才会惊叹于 “The Expanse”（广袤）之名的名副其实。
The outdoor area features a covered patio that provides a comfortable retreat, protected from the elements, no matter the season. The backyard patio is equipped with a fire pit, hot tub, outdoor shower and a linear pool that seems to extend into the high desert, seamlessly integrating with the natural landscape and creating a unique outdoor living experience.
户外区域设有遮蔽式露台，无论季节如何变换，都能为住户提供一个舒适的休憩之所，免受恶劣天气的影响。后院露台配备了火坑、热水浴缸、户外淋浴和一个线性泳池，泳池仿佛延伸至高沙漠之中，与自然景观无缝衔接，营造出一种独特的户外生活体验。
开放式布局与功能分区
The first floor features an open floor plan with 40-foot sliding doors that allow for a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, perfect for extended family gatherings. The focal point of the living room is a blackened steel and formwork concrete fireplace, which is located opposite the kitchen. In addition, the first floor also has a guest bedroom, hidden storage wall and utility room to meet various needs of daily life.
一层采用开放式平面布局，40英尺的滑动门让室内与室外空间流畅过渡，非常适合大家庭聚会。客厅的焦点是一个黑化钢和模板混凝土壁炉，与厨房相对。此外，一层还设有客卧、隐藏式储物墙和杂物间，满足了日常生活的各种需求。
The second floor is home to the family quarters, including the master suite with spa-like bathroom and home office. Down the hallway is a second bedroom with ensuite and a media room, ensuring that extended family members have their own space when they visit. Floor-to-ceiling windows on both floors maximize natural light, allowing the warm sunsets to filter in while also framing the stunning views outside.
二层为家庭居住区域，包括带水疗浴室和家庭办公室的主套房。走廊尽头是第二间带套间的卧室和一间媒体室，确保大家庭成员来访时各自都有独立的空间。两层均采用落地窗设计，最大限度地引入自然光线，让温暖的日落余晖洒入室内，同时也将室外的壮丽景色尽收眼底。
The interior design is simple and classic, using the same material palette as the exterior, with cedar siding and soffits extending from the exterior to the interior, blurring the line between inside and outside. The use of natural materials, clean lines, and soft tones create a strong sense of place, providing a calm, comfortable living environment. Both architectural and interior design decisions were guided by simplicity and a close connection to the unique landscape that the clients consider their second home.
