截止日期:Fixed- term from 1 November 2024 to 31 July 2026

PART 01
招生信息

Are you Interested in working for a Russell Group university in the UK? We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) in power systems engineering. You will play a key role in developing modelling and simulation techniques for power systems, focussing on cyber and physical system resilience. You will be a part of a team developing cyber-physical power system modelling methods and grid simulation tools, with novel applications of real-time digital simulators, control of power converters and cyber-security schemes in the power systems.

This PDRA post is funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship: ‘Digitalisation of Electrical Power and Energy Systems Operation’. This is an exciting research project with strong collaboration that brings together the leading partners from academia and industry, including the power system operator, renewable energy operator and EPSRC academic communities.

You should have a PhD (or near completion) in power systems, electrical engineering, or related fields. You will develop models and tools for power system analysis, with strong motivation to improve the cyber-physical resilience, security, and economic operation of power systems across electricity transmission, distribution and/or microgrid.

The PDRA post is based in the CAPS Lab, led by Professor Xin Zhang. The CAPS Lab has a range of state-of-the-art facilities for the real-time simulations of power systems with thousands of electrical nodes, hardware-in-the-loop simulations for the design and testing of power equipment, laboratory testbed for microgrid, and a demonstration platform for power electronics converters. CAPS Lab and members have received strong support from UK Research and Innovation, including a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship (MR/W011360/1, £1.5m), and an EPSRC-UKRI Innovation Fellowship (EP/S001107/1, £500k). We have attracted over £5m+ in funding and whose members have worked with a range of industry partners. We are part of the Electrical Machines and Drives (EMD) research group within the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.

PART 02
实验室介绍

The Control and Power Systems Laboratory (CAPS) focuses on advanced control systems, optimisation, and cybersecurity with applications to power systems, smart grids, microgrids, and power electronics converters.

The Control and Power Systems Laboratory (CAPS) focuses on advanced digital technologies for power grid simulation, monitoring and control, cyber-physical system, AI and optimisation techniques, and cybersecurity with applications to power systems, smart grids, microgrids and wider energy systems.

The CAPS Lab develops high-performance grid simulators and a wide range of power systems experimental equipment. The CAPS Lab brings academics, research associates, engineers, and PhD students together to find new ways to improve the resilience and security of power grids. We are a part of the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the University of Sheffield, located in the Sir Frederick Mappin Building on Mappin Street.
