IELTS SPEAKING

1. Do you like to watch movies or TV shows that make people laugh?
Yes, I really enjoy watching movies or TV shows that are funny. For example, I love watching comedies like Friends or The Big Bang Theory. They help me relax after a long day and sometimes, even if I’ve watched the episode before, it still makes me laugh. I think laughter is a great way to reduce stress.
2. Do you usually make your friends laugh?
Yes, I think I do. I enjoy making my friends laugh, especially when we’re hanging out or during casual conversations. Sometimes, I tell jokes or share funny stories from my daily life, and seeing them laugh makes me feel really happy. It creates a positive atmosphere.
3. Have you laughed recently? Why?
Yes, I laughed just yesterday! I was watching a stand-up comedy show on Netflix, and the comedian was so funny. He made jokes about everyday life situations, like ordering food online or how people behave at the gym, and it really made me laugh because it was so relatable.

One person who always has strong opinions is my classmate, Lisa. During group discussions in class, she’s always very firm about her ideas and rarely changes her mind. I remember one specific time when we were working on a history project together. She insisted on focusing on her perspective of the topic, and it was difficult for the rest of us to share our ideas. At first, it was frustrating because it felt like we weren’t really collaborating. However, after a private conversation with her, I explained that we needed to compromise to make the project work. Surprisingly, she agreed to listen, and we were able to include everyone’s ideas. This experience was challenging because it required a lot of patience and good communication to find a solution.
1. What do children often do when they face a challenge?
When high school students face a challenge, they often try to solve it themselves first. For example, if they struggle with homework, they might spend extra time studying or ask their teachers for help. If the challenge feels too overwhelming, they might turn to their friends or family for support.
2. Is it easy for children to overcome a challenge?
It depends on the challenge. Some students can handle challenges more easily if they have the right support or confidence. But for others, it can be difficult, especially if they don’t have much experience dealing with stress or complex problems. It usually helps when they have guidance from adults.
3. Do most people choose to face challenges alone or with others?
I think most high school students prefer to face challenges with others. For example, in group projects or study sessions, they like to share ideas and help each other. However, some students might prefer to work alone if they feel they can handle the problem more efficiently.
4. What activities do you think would make children feel challenged? Why?
I think academic tasks like solving difficult math problems or writing essays can be challenging for students because these tasks require a lot of focus and critical thinking. Physical activities, like sports or learning new skills, can also be challenging because they test both physical and mental abilities.
