Postdoctoral position at Washington University in St. Louis

One postdoctoral scholar position is available in Prof. Jian Wang’s group in the Department of Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.  The research will focus on (1) the development of novel instrument for rapid measurements of aerosol size spectrum onboard manned and unmanned aircraft, and (2) deployment of the instrument for improved understanding of aerosol processes.

The successful candidates are expected to have a background in aerosol research and strong experimental skills. Demonstrated commitment to publication of results and strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Previous experience with instrument development and field measurements are highly desirable.

Review of applications begins immediately.  Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. The initial appointment will be one year, with the expectation of annual renewal for at least one year contingent upon satisfactory performance.

To apply, please send a single pdf file that includes a cover letter describing your research interest, a C.V., 2-3 first author paper reprints, and a list of 3 references to Prof. Jian Wang (jian@wustl.edu).

Jian Wang教授简介:
Jian Wang, Professor and Director of the Center for Aerosol Science and Engineering (CASE), Washington University in St. Louis. Prof. Wang earned his master's and doctoral degrees, both in chemical engineering, in 1998 and 2003, respectively, from California Institute of Technology. He earned a bachelor's degree in physical chemistry from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1996.

The broad theme of Prof. Wang's research is to understand key processes that drive the properties, distribution, and evolution of aerosols, and to elucidate and quantify the effects of atmospheric aerosols on radiation, clouds, climate, and air quality. The approach consists of developing cutting-edge instruments and deploying of these instruments in field observations focusing on regions where aerosols have major impacts on climate system and air quality.
