Title: Postdoctoral Research Position in Atmospheric Modeling of Clouds and Convection at the University of HoustonThe Cloud Physics group at the University of Houston, led by Dr. Youtong Zheng, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team. This position will focus on atmospheric modeling of clouds and convection, with particular emphasis on global storm-resolving modeling of deep convective clouds.Candidates with one or more of the following expertise areas will be given priority: (1) Proficiency in high-performance computing, (2) Experience with a climate model such as the DOE Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SM) and Community Earth System Model (CESM2), (3) Experience with global cloud-resolving modeling (e.g., DYAMOND models), (4) Experience with parameterization of cloud microphysics (e.g., P3 microphysical scheme), (5) Expertise in cloud physics, convection, and aerosol-cloud-precipitation-convection interactions, and (6) Experience with the application of machine learning in climate modeling. The initial appointment is for one year and can be extended up to four years, subject to satisfactory progress and funding availability. This position is primarily supported by the DOE early career award:(https://climatemodeling.science.energy.gov/projects/using-kilometer-scale-e3sm-investigate-air-pollution-impacts-coastal-storms). The position should be filled as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed immediately and will continue until the position is filled. To apply, please email Dr. Youtong Zheng (yzheng18@uh.edu) your CV (including a list of publications), a cover letter including qualifications for the position, and names and contact information for two professional references.
