Ancient whispers through time and space

About 2,000 years ago, a sudden volcanic eruption buried the city of Pompeii under ash, leaving a unique record of the daily life of the society at the time. Almost the entire population of the city perished in the catastrophe. Since then, Pompeii has become a byword for disaster.

Today, the ancient city has ushered in a new era. Like a giant awakening from sleep, with a thousand years of stories, slowly into our sight.

Stepping into the ancient city of Pompeii, as if directly into a vivid historical picture! No longer on paper, every brick and tile here is whispering, telling the glory and legend of ancient Rome.

It has witnessed the glory and fall of the Roman Empire, preserved countless precious works of art and architectural remains, and provided us with a unique window into the luxurious life of the ancient aristocracy. The stone walls stand tall, with seven gates and fourteen towers guarding the land. Criss-crossing flagstone roads are lined with shops and stately homes.

From the grandeur of the municipal square to the magnificence of the theater, every building reveals the wisdom and aesthetics of the ancient Romans. In particular, those rooms arranged around the courtyard, classical colonnades and marble statues complement each other, making people seem to travel back to that glorious era.

The secret garden in the mural

Walking into Pompeii's mansion, the most striking thing is the well-preserved frescoes and sculptures. They are not only artistic treasures, but also a true portrayal of the life and beliefs of the ancient Romans. They are colorful, smooth lines, even after thousands of years of wind and rain, the color is still bright. These murals are not only artistic treasures, but also historical witnesses, telling the stories and dreams of the ancient Romans in silent language.

So, how did these precious frescoes and sculptures survive under the ash cover, still colorful and lifelike?

Thanks to the magical protective effects of volcanic ash. The fine particles of volcanic ash formed a protective layer during the covering process, insulating air and moisture, thus slowing the oxidation and corrosion process of the frescoes and sculptures. In addition, through fine excavation and restoration techniques, archaeologists have liberated these precious artworks from the dirt, and carried out scientific protection and display, giving us the opportunity to witness their elegance.

The secret garden in the mural

In Pompeii and other cities in southern Italy, the nobility used red on a large scale to decorate the murals of their mansions, and red became a symbol of Roman architecture of the era. Red has been capricious since ancient times, can belong to the poison color system, also belongs to the mysterious color system. "Pompeii Red" is one of the characteristics of Pompeii frescoes, through the years and suffering of sharpening, these red is still flashing a moving luster. The magenta murals, or frescoes, gave the whole of Pompeii a magenta tone.

There was an inscription on a wall painting in Pompeii: "Nothing lasts forever." Perhaps Pompeii Red has reached eternity.

Contemplation beneath Vesuvius

How can we mention Pompeii without mentioning Vesuvius, the source of both life and destruction? It was a natural barrier for the people of Pompeii to survive, and a sacred symbol in their hearts. However, it is this volcano, in the summer of AD 79, mercilessly swallowed up this bustling city, leaving endless regrets and laments.

Standing at the foot of Vesuvius and looking at the still-sleeping giant is both a natural spectacle and an indelible memory of human history. Every time I look back, it is a profound reflection on the fragility of life and the tenacity of civilization.
