Introduction
Dr. Krasnow's lab employs genetic and genomic techniques at single-cell resolution to uncover the genetic programs that govern lung development, renewal, regeneration and cancer. His lab focuses particularly on stem cells and the mechanisms that regulate their behavior in three-dimensional space to generate functional lung tissue. His research has improved our understanding of lung diseases including lung cancer.
Dr. Krasnow is Paul and Mildred Berg Professor at the Department of Biochemistry in Stanford University. He has been a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) investigator since 1997 and is a recognized leader in stem cell and developmental biology field. Dr. Krasnow was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2016 and the National Academy of Sciences in 2019.
