Global business leaders and cultural industry representatives convened at the Potside Chats salon – The CIIE: Open for the Future – to share their insights on the China International Import Expo and its impact on Shanghai's burgeoning global influence on Nov 7.

Rwandan coffee entrepreneur Andrew Gatera and Italian food vlogger Alessandro Conti discussed the immense potential of the Chinese market and product innovation during the "CIIE: Openness Leads to the Future" Potside Chats salon. Two entrepreneurs brainstormed new product ideas combining Rwandan coffee with Italian gelato. "CIIE is a powerful platform for brands to continually explore new market opportunities," said Andrew.
Alessandro Conti recalls his journey to success in China. Arriving at 18, he has thrived in various cities, personally and professionally. Introducing authentic Italian gelato to China, he's captivated by the market's vibrancy. Conti sees China as an entrepreneurial haven, with Shanghai's global allure offering boundless opportunities for young talents.
Astrid Poghosyan, project manager at the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, describes Shanghai as a hub of openness and curiosity. She said the city's diverse community fosters a sense of belonging and encourages exploration of new ideas and collaborations. This openness and willingness to embrace different perspectives is what makes Shanghai such a dynamic and innovative place, truly embodying the spirit of being "open for the future".
