Cycling enthusiasts and nature lovers now have two new scenic routes to explore in Shenzhen for this National Day holiday.

Located in the Kuichong area of Dapeng New Area, these recently completed coastal cycling trails are part of the city's 'Green and Beautiful Shenzhen' initiative, which aims to promote eco-friendly tourism and outdoor activities.

Kuichong has taken advantage of its natural landscape to transform its coastline into a premier cycling destination. The first route spans 7.94 kilometers and offers riders sweeping views of Dapeng Bay’s major attractions, including Beizaijiao Beach, Xichong Resort, and Rose Coast.

The second route stretches 9.55 kilometers, featuring highlights such as the Shayuchong Hiking Trail and a connection to the Diefushan-Guanhu Greenway.

Both routes provide a combination of ocean views, smooth cycling paths, and safe riding conditions.

As well as providing recreational opportunities, these new cycling routes also cater for nature lovers. Along the routes, visitors can enjoy bird watching, explore ecological zones and even catch a glimpse of local wildlife, including herons and dolphins.

The cycling routes are a complement to some of the existing hiking trails in Dapeng New Area. Even if you are not a cyclist and just want to take a leisurely stroll, these trails have something special for you.

The Beizaijiao coastal hiking trail, which is the final segment of the Yantian seaside trail, offers crystal-clear waters and a breezy seaside experience. Imagine taking a leisurely stroll along this path, ending at a striking red-and-white lighthouse that feels like a scene straight out of a movie.

Hiking route options

Option 1: Start at Dameisha Beach Park Metro station and follow the trail through Dameisha and Xiaomeisha, leading up to the Beizaijiao Lighthouse. This scenic route, featuring numerous viewing platforms and picturesque spots, takes around two to three hours with a relaxed pace on foot.

🚇 Metro: Line 2 or 8 to Dameisha Station, Exit A.

Option 2: If you're short on time, start directly from Xiaomeisha. A shorter, one-hour trek on foot will still reward you with stunning sea views and fresh ocean breeze.

2. Diefu Mountain-Guanhu Greenway

If lush greenery and tranquil hills are more your style, the Diefu Mountain-Guanhu Greenway in Dapeng is a must-see.

Starting at the statue of a roc on Yingbin Road in Dapeng District, this trail leads through forested paths, crossing Diefu Mountain and ending at the Bak Power Plant in Guanhu Village.

The greenway’s main path stretches 5.69 km, with gentle slopes and a maximum elevation of 80 meters. Expect an easy two-hour hike, surrounded by well-maintained greenery and plenty of rest stops along the way.

Feeling adventurous? Opt for the alternative hiking trail that ascends to a height of 200 meters, offering panoramic views of the S360 highway, Guanhujiao Hill, and the Wuni Bay coastline. You’ll also get a unique perspective of the LNG storage tanks and the distant power plant — a fusion of nature and industry.
