Automobility’s Internet of Mobility (IoM) Thesis

Our core thesis is built on the view that anew “Internet of Mobility” (IoM) business model has emerged in the 21st Century which is highly embedded in a distributed cloud-based architecture linked to the Intelligent Connected Vehicle (ICV). The IoM model accelerates tech commercialization by leveraging the huge addressable market size of the mobile internet. A software-defined, networked, and cloud-enabled ICV architecture will capture these growth opportunities.

This “new game” will be dominated by players that view mobility and associated services as a means to disintermediate the traditional automotive industry “old game” business model.

Core technologies that unlock new revenue and profit opportunities are embedded in the 4 layers of the IoM “stack” depicted above. Our portfolio companies offer attractive opportunities to profit from investing in these core technologies.

Traction & milestones: Deontic has secured a strategic partnership with the Microsoft Founders Hub, enabling the development of customized Copilot Plugins. This collaboration allows Deontic to harness Azure's capabilities to train Large Language Models that automate and enhance regulatory compliance and documentation for clients, marking a significant advancement in leveraging AI for enterprise efficiency.

Funding round: Deontic is seeking seed funding to fuel their growth initiatives.

ENERVIBE

Enervibe is an energy harvesting technology solutions provider. Claims to have developed a MEMS-based dynamic vibration energy harvester chip technology for harvesting energy from vibrating sources such as human motion, structures, and machines. Used in the tire pressure monitoring system, smart sports gadgets, wireless battery-free light switches, and more.

Traction & milestones: Enervibe has recently achieved a significant milestone by securing substantial financial backing from the esteemed Israel Innovation Authority. This recognition underscores their commitment to innovation and the tireless pursuit of pushing the boundaries in the automotive industry.

Funding round: Enervibe is raising a SAFE round of $2M in 2024.

B-ON

B-ON is a full-service solution provider democratizing fleet electrification, providing access to an entire ecosystem of services through one simple process. The Luxembourg-based company is focused on transforming last mile transportation of people and goods to zero emissions. Employing its expertise earned over seven years with a >20k proven vehicle fleet, B-ON's ElectrOS is a suite of solutions offering fleets hassle-free ways to harness the benefits of electrification.

Traction & milestones: After acquiring StreetScooter, B-ON has had a successful 2022 by having produced and delivered 2,447 electric commercial vehicles and generated $125 million in revenue. In recent months, the company has announced several new partnerships which includes agreements with Creative Bus Sales in the United States, Koelliker Group in Italy, and Chery in N.America and Europe.

Funding round: B-ON is currently accepting follow-on investments to their Series B round.

Blitz Motors focuses on development of all-electric two-wheeled vehicles for the last mile industry and urban city commute. The company also offers customization services for its B2B customers who have delivery and logistics applications. The company has its branches across a number of countries in Europe.

XtraLit

XtraLit is a provider of innovative lithium extraction solutions. It utilizes Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology to produce high-quality lithium carbonate and hydroxide from low-concentration sources such as salt lakes, geothermal waters, and underground brines. This method is efficient, environmentally friendly, and helps diversify lithium supply while ensuring high selectivity and durability of the extracted lithium.

Traction & milestones: XtraLit recently announced its plan to invest €96.4 million in Argentina to expand lithium exploration and develop sustainable extraction technologies.

Funding round: XtraLit secured Series B funding of $30M and is seeking additional $8M follow on investors and strategic partners.

Funding round: Carrar has secured Seed funding of $11M and is closing its Series A funding by the end of this year.

EV Infrastructure

WattEV

WattEV is a provider of Zero-Emission fleet and electric plug-in stations for the trucking industry. The US startup is accelerating the transition to electrify Heavy Duty Zero-Emission freight transport. It is an all-inclusive solution with its Zero-Emission truck fleet and reliable charging infrastructure.

Traction & milestones: WattEV has just completed the construction of a public truck charging station at the Port of Long Beach in California. Previously, the startup received $3M grants funding from two Southern California government agencies and announced its partnership with Uber Freight and CHEP to pilot electric trucks.

Funding round: WattEV secured Series A funding and is closing its Series B funding.
