Highlights:
Opened in 1999 atop a hill just south of Phewa Tal, the Stupa is the first Peace Pagoda to be constructed in Nepal and offers great views of the Annapurna Mountains, including Fishtail, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Annapurna III. This is a great place to watch the sunrise or sunset over Pokhara. Tushita Nepal Meditation Retreats is just nearby.
We will stay one night at the resort on the top of the hill with view of Himalaya, if you are lucky enough, with good weather, you can enjoy the breathtaking view of sunset and sunrise.
Mandala, (Sanskrit मण्डल, meaning“circle”) in Hindu and Buddhist Tantrism, a symbolic diagram used in the performance of sacred rites and as an instrument of meditation. The mandala is basically a representation of the universe, a consecrated area that serves as a receptacle for the gods and as a collection point of universal forces. Man (the microcosm), by mentally “entering” the mandala and “proceeding” toward its centre, is by analogy guided through the cosmic processes of disintegration and reintegration.
The Pema Tsal Monastery was founded to provide young Tibetan Buddhist monks with all that the ancient traditional monastic and modern education can offer. It stands on the top of the mountain and has a great view of the snow mountains and peaks in distance.
Towering against the backdrop of the Annapurna mountain range and overlooking the serene Fewa Lake, this statue is not only an architectural marvel but also a symbol of the significant role Lord Shiva plays in Hinduism and the cultural fabric of Nepal.
Swayambhunath stupa is the oldest stupa in Kathmandu and one of the oldest religious sites in Nepal. The historic landmark has been a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
Swayambhunath, or the Monkey temple as it is often referred to, is located on the top of a hill west of Kathmandu, and consists of a main (huge) stupa surrounded by Hindu and Buddhist temples and monuments of great cultural and historical importance.
Swayambhunath is achingly beautiful and absolutely fascinating. Besides, the site also offers an amazing panoramic view of the capital city. It is definitely a must-see for every traveler landing in Kathmandu.
Located just a short walk from Thamel, the popular tourist hub in Kathmandu, Kathmandu Durbar Square, also known as “Basantapur Durbar Square” or “Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square”, is one of the capital’s most visited landmarks. The site has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Its historical importance, beautiful Newari architecture and lively bazaars make it a fascinating place to visit.
With Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of the three Durbar Squares (“Durbar” means palace in Nepali) inside the Kathmandu Valley.
