Step-by-Step Guide To Setting up Your BOC Soft Token with your BOC Debit Card and Debit Card PIN
Setting up your BOC Soft Token is easy and can be set up with:
Identify Verification – Select your debit card, enter your debit card PIN and captcha code to proceed.
Authentication – Enter the 6-digit SMS OTP sent to your mobile number registered with our bank.
Set up BOC Soft Token PIN – Enter and confirm your 6-digit BOC Soft Token PIN.
Important Notice
There is a cooling period of at least 12 hours to combat scams and fraud for BOC Soft Token set-up. You will not be able to make certain Mobile Banking transactions during the cooling period. However, you will still be able to authenticate your transactions with SMS OTP or BOC physical eToken.
You can only set up BOC Soft Token on one mobile device to keep your account safe.
There is no expiry date for your BOC Soft Token. You will need to set up your BOC Soft Token again if you change your mobile device or uninstall the Mobile Banking app.
Never disclose your login credentials, account details, password, PIN or One Time PIN (OTP) to anyone.

Why should I set up BOC Soft Token?
With BOC Soft Token, you no longer face the hassle of having to carry your physical token with you as it will replace SMS OTPs or Transaction Signing authorisations with just your mobile phone.

How do I set up BOC Soft Token PIN?
Step 1: Launch your BOC Mobile Banking app and tap on View Accounts – Account Management.
Step 2: Tap on Add Account to add your BOC Debit Card if you have not added.
Step 3: Tap on APP & Security Settings – Security Tools – Manage BOC Soft Token.
Step 4: Tap on Set up BOC Soft Token.
Step 5: Select your debit card, enter your debit card PIN and captcha code.
Step 6: Enter the 6-digit SMS OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
Step 7: Enter and confirm your 6-digit BOC Soft Token PIN.
Step 8: You’ve set up your BOC Soft Token.

What is BOC Soft Token PIN?
As an additional security measure, BOC Soft Token is protected by a 6-digit Soft Token PIN set up by you, and restricted to one mobile device of your choice.
The unique 6-digit BOC Soft Token PIN ensures that only you have access to BOC Mobile Banking app. Please remember your BOC Soft Token PIN and do not share it with anyone.

Why do I need toprovide BOC Soft Token PIN and SMS OTP for certain transactions?
For added security, BOC Soft Token PIN and SMS One Time PIN (OTP) are required for selected transactions such as:
a. Add Payee for transferring funds (A cooling period of 12 hours is applicable)
b. High-Value Transfer
c. International Remittance and RMB Pre-Settlement
d. Update of personal information (Cooling period of 12 hours is applicable)

What if I don’t remember my Debit Card PIN? Can I still register for BOC Soft Token?
If you don’t remember your Debit Card PIN, you can reset your Debit Card PIN online.
These are the steps to reset your Debit Card PIN:
a. Log in BOC Mobile Banking app
b. Tap on Debit Cards
c. Tap on Reset Card PIN

Why do I need to use my BOC Debit Card number and Debit Card PIN to apply for BOC Soft Token?
Activation of soft token is a high risk activity hence we would need to use multi-factor authentication (BOC Debit Card number and Debit Card PIN).

I do not have a BOC Debit Card, how do I apply for one?

Can I set up my BOC Soft Token on different devices?
For security reason, you are only able to set up your BOC Soft Token on one device at any one time. If you change your mobile set, you will need to set up BOC Soft Token on your new mobile set again for security purpose.

Why will the BOC Soft Token PIN only be fully activated after 12 hours?
For your security, to access services like adding payees and updating personal details, you will need to wait up to 12 hours for BOC Soft Token to be fully activated.
You may continue to use your SMS OTP or physical eToken as your security tool to perform your transactions.

How do I authenticate transactions with my BOC Soft Token PIN?
You will need to enter your unique 6-digit PIN to instantly authenticate your transactions initiated in BOC Mobile Banking app. No more waiting for an OTP via SMS, or worrying about misplacing your physical eToken.
For selected transactions, you will need your 6-digit PIN and SMS OTP for authentication.

What if I forget my 6-digit BOC Soft Token PIN?
Remove BOC Soft Token from your device and set it up again.
These are the steps to reset your BOC Soft Token PIN:
a. Log in BOC Mobile Banking app
b. Tap on APP & Security Settings
c. Tap on Security Tools
d. Tap on Manage Soft Token

What happens if I lose/switch mobile devices?
Please download the latest Bank of China Mobile Banking app on new device. You will then be prompted to set up your BOC Soft Token again when you first log in. Upon successful set up, the BOC Soft Token on your previous mobile device will be automatically deregistered.

Why am I asked to set up my BOC Soft Token again when I have set it up before?
If you have changed your mobile device, you will be prompted to set up your BOC Soft Token again when you first log in to BOC Mobile Banking app.

What are the types of transactions that Soft Token PIN can support?
All the transactions that require the use of physical eToken OTP and SMS OTP can be supported via Soft Token PIN. eGIRO set-up is currently not supported via Soft Token.

What are the types of BOC Security Tool?
There are several types of BOC Security Tools such as SMS OTP, physical eToken OTP, physical eToken and BOC Soft Token.

What is the difference between BOC Soft Token and BOC eToken (physical token)?
Both devices serve the same purpose. The key difference is that you are able to access the BOC Soft Token from within BOC Mobile Banking app on your mobile device, while BOC eToken is a separate piece of hardware.
