Review
Giant Wild Goose Pagoda
As the symbol of the old-line Xi'an, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda (also called Big Wild Goose Pagoda) is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. It is located in the southern suburb of Xi'an City, about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the downtown of the city. Standing in the Da Ci'en Temple complex, it attracts numerous visitors for its fame in the Buddhist religion and its simple but appealing style of construction.
Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, as the earliest and largest existing quartet brick pagoda in the Tang Dynasty, is an ancient Indian Buddhist temple whose architectural form was introduced into the Central Plains region with Buddhism and is a typical material evidence of integration into Chinese culture.
City Wall
Xi'an City Wall, also known as the Fortifications of Xi'an, is the most complete city wall that has survived in China, as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.
It was originally built during the Sui and Tang dynasties (581 - 907) to defend against enemies and was reinforced and extended in the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). You can overlook the whole of Xian City standing on the wall and the traditional layout and buildings in the inner city present a striking contrast with modern high-rise buildings on the outside.
Terracotta Army
The Terracotta Army in Xi'an, aka Terracotta Warriors and Horses, is a super large collection of life-size terra cotta sculptures in battle formations, reproducing the mega imperial guard troops of Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259 - 210BC), the first emperor of the first unified dynasty of Imperial China.
The purpose of the Terracotta Army was to protect the emperor in his afterlife. The construction work lasted for 38 years, starting when he was 13, and it wasn't completed until his son had continued the construction for another year. More than 8,000 terracotta warriors and horses with different gestures and vivid expressions have been discovered here.
It is well praised as one of the "Eight Wonders of the World".
Grand Tang Dynasty
Ever-bright City
Grand Tang Dynasty Ever-bright City is located at the foot of the big wild goose pagoda. It takes the Tang Dynasty culture as the background and takes Tang Feng elements as the main thread. It runs through three theme squares, namely, Xuan Zang square, Zhenguan Cultural Square, Kaiyuan Celebration Square, six imitation Tang blocks and four cultural buildings, namely, the concert hall, the Grand Theater, the movie city and the gallery of the artist. It is China's first culture MALL.
Xi'an food
The Muslim Quarter has become a calling card of Xi'an City and is famous for all sorts of special delicious snacks, such as Crumbled Flatbread in Mutton Stew, Steamed Meat and cold noodles. Many Muslim people have been living here for hundreds of years. Strolling around the quarter, you will enjoy the fantastic local food and know more about the Muslim culture.
BTW the food there is really delicious and cheap.
