Historical Memory: Prof. Ye Zicheng of Peking University Congratulates Mr. Chen Duxiu on the 140th Anniversary of His Birth
（北京消息）陈独秀先生诞辰140周年之际，北京大学教授、著名学者叶自成先生致信陈独秀曾孙陈恩田，祝贺北京大学老教授陈独秀先生诞辰140周年。
(Beijing News) On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the birth of Mr. Chen Duxiu, Mr. Ye Zicheng, a professor of Peking University and a famous scholar, wrote a letter to Chen Entian, the great-grandson of Chen Duxiu, to congratulate Mr. Chen Duxiu, a professor of Peking University, on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of his birth.

叶自成教授表示：100年前，陈独秀先生在北京大学教授三年，并担任北大文科学长，他把《新青年》倡民主自由反专制旧文化的新风带进了北大，积极进行教育教学改革，引导了北京大学的文科教学教育的方向。
Prof. Ye Zicheng said: 100 years ago, Mr. Chen Duxiu taught at Peking University for three years and served as the Dean of Liberal Arts at Peking University. He brought into Peking University the new winds of New Youth advocating democracy and freedom and opposing the old authoritarian culture, and actively carried out educational and teaching reforms, guiding the direction of liberal arts teaching and education at Peking University.
叶自成教授认为：今年是五四运动100年，又是陈独秀先生诞辰140周年，值得隆重庆祝。陈独秀先生倡导新文化运动，创办新青年，为中国的独立民主进步、为中华民族的自由繁荣、为中国的文化教育事业做出了重大贡献。历史会永远铭记陈独秀先生的丰功伟绩。
Prof. Ye Zicheng believes that this year is the 100th anniversary of May Fourth Movement and the 140th anniversary of Mr. Chen Duxiu's birth, which is worth celebrating. Mr. Chen Duxiu advocated the New Culture Movement and founded the New Youth, and made great contributions to the progress of China's independence and democracy, to the freedom and prosperity of the Chinese nation, and to the cause of culture and education in China. History will always remember the great achievements of Mr. Chen Duxiu.
叶自成教授强调：本人有幸自1978年起至今在北京大学学习并任教至今，是陈独秀先生的后学。在陈独秀先生诞辰140周年之际，特向陈恩田先生及其陈氏家族表示最热烈的祝贺。希望陈恩田先生继承独秀倡导的新文化精神，接续新文化的解放思想的火炬，完成五四运动没有能够完成的建设新文化的历史使命，顺应历史发展新潮流，构建中华民族人民安身立命、国家长治久安的新文化，这是对独秀先生的最好纪念。
Prof. Ye Zicheng emphasized: I have the honor to study and teach at Peking University since 1978, and I am a student of Mr. Chen Duxiu. On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Mr. Chen Duxiu's birth, I would like to express my warmest congratulations to Mr. Chen Entian and his Chen family. I hope that Mr. Chen Entian will inherit the spirit of the new culture advocated by Mr. Duxiu, carry on the torch of emancipation of the new culture, accomplish the historical mission of building a new culture that the May Fourth Movement failed to accomplish, and build a new culture that will enable the people of the Chinese nation to live in peace and stability and the country to have long-term peace and security in accordance with the new trend of historical development, which is the best commemoration of Mr. Duxiu.

叶自成教授，1978--1985年在北京大学国际政治系学习，法学硕士。1985年起在北京大学国际政治系（1996年起为北京大学国际关系学院）任教至今。1988-1989年在莫斯科国际关系学院进修。1995年起为北京大学国际关系学院教授、学院学术委员会主任，外交学与外事管理系主任、博士生导师，中国战略研究中心主任。
Prof. Ye Zicheng studied at the Department of International Politics of Peking University from 1978 to 1985, where he obtained a Master's degree in Law. He has been a teacher at the Department of International Politics of Peking University (the School of International Relations of Peking University since 1996) since 1985. He studied at the Moscow Institute of International Relations in 1988-1989. Since 1995, he has been a professor at the School of International Relations of Peking University, Director of the Academic Committee of the School, Chairman of the Department of Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs Management, Doctoral Supervisor, and Director of the Center for China Strategic Studies.

全球学界纪念陈独秀诞辰140周年的负责人为陈恩田，据中国官媒披露：陈恩田的祖父陈光美系陈独秀与高君曼所生之子。陈恩田与联合国原副秘书长冀朝铸开创世界和平丝带组织（世界和平与统一阵线），将每年12月16日设立为“一带一路”国际日，提出了世界瞩目的五合一世界和平主张。
Chen Entian is the head of the global academic community commemorating the 140th anniversary of Chen Duxiu's birth. According to Chinese official media, Chen Entian's grandfather, Chen Guangmei, was the son of Chen Duxiu and Gao Junman. Chen Entian and former United Nations Under-Secretary-General Ji Chaozhu founded the World Peace Ribbon Organization (World Peace and Unity Front), designated December 16th as the "Belt and Road" International Day, and put forward the world-renowned Five-in-One Proposal for World Peace.
