Why pursue a CPA designation? When the words CPA is mentioned, an image of someone sitting at their desk punching numbers into a calculator rushing to meet a tight deadline often surface. Despite having "accountant" in the name of the designation, becoming a CPA involves a lot more than just accounting knowledge and number-crunching.
This seminar provides general guidance on career development as a successful accounting professonal and introduction of CPA path to prospective CPA students. We also have 8 mentors from differentiating backgrounds to provide insights from the accounting industry and various perspectives in career development.

Wenyan is an experienced Transaction Tax Manager at BDO Canada specializing in corporate tax planning, inbound/outbound structuring, cross-border planning, and coprorate tax compliance. Previously advanced from tax intern to senior associate at RSM Canada, Wenyan holds a bachelor's degree from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, a master of Accountancy from Brock University, and a master of taxation diploma from University of Waterloo.

Bernice Francis is a finance professional with over 20 years of progressive experience mainly in financial services. She has extensive experience in financial and regulatory reporting, accounting operations and controls framework. Bernice has been at Rogers for the past 5 years leading the Controllership and Regulatory Reporting function. Her prior work experience includes TD Bank (Balance Sheet Consolidation), Emirates Airlines (Procedures and Controls), and Ernst & Young (Assurance).
