On December 12, Chinese Consul General in San Francisco Zhang Jianmin and his wife Zheng Xin attended the opening of the exhibition "Qi Baishi: Inspiration in Ink" at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum. The event was also attended by Emiko Usui, Deputy Director of the Asian Art Museum, and Guo Baojun, Deputy Director of the Beijing Fine Art Academy, along with scholars and art enthusiasts.
Consul General Zhang provided a brief introduction to Qi Baishi and the unique characteristics of his artwork. He noted that at the summit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden in San Francisco in November last year, both leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening people-to-people exchanges. Zhang described the exhibition as a vivid example of efforts to foster mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and the United States. He expressed hope for greater interaction and dialogue between the two nations which would contribute to stable, healthy, and sustainable growth in the bilateral relationship.
This exhibition is jointly organized by the Beijing Fine Art Academy and the San Francisco Asian Art Museum to commemorate the 160th anniversary of Qi Baishi's birth.
