风中记忆 Reminiscence Breeze of Memory

The Breeze of Memory installation serves as a contemporary time capsule, capturing the essence of shared histories and cultural legacies between China and Malaysia. Through the harmonious interplay of wind, shadow, and culturally significant design elements, it reflect space where visitors can engage with the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to a future enriched by these enduring connections.

2

韵势 Cadence

Our concept centers on Qi, the vital energy that flows continuously. It's reflected in the dynamic movement of calligraphy strokes and the dragon, symbolizing balance, with shadows and forms expressing Qi's constant presence and transition from boldness to subtlety.

3

收获的季节 Harvest Season

The architectural work is inspired by the enchanting heights and depths of terraced fields, with skillfully layered bamboo creating a space where nature and creativity blend harmoniously.

Sunlight shines through the gaps, creating fascinating patterns of light and shadow turning the structure into a vibrant painting that harmonizes humanity with the earth and sky.

In the peaceful-space, the sound of the wind and bambao brings a sense of relaxation and closeness to nature.

4

连接的怀抱 The Embrace of Connection

The artwork is a delicate network, interconnected, where each bamboo pole represents an individual with its own form and shape, and each taut cable symbolizes the relationships and moments in which they come together.    The piece conveys the idea that it is these relationships and the connections between individuals that form a collective, bringing strength, stability, and contribution to the whole community.

5

冷空流 Lengkongliu

Lengkongliu is a kinetic bamboo installation that harnesses wind as chi, the vital life forçe, inspired by the fluid motions of Tai Chi. It embodies balance and movement through opposing rotations of its 'head and"body, drawing from Balinese and Chinese traditions. Resembling a dragon, symbolizing wisdom and control - over nature, its modular screens mimic shifting dragon scales, creating an interplay of light and shadow that changes throughout the day.

Crafted from bamboo, rattan, tensile, membrane, concrete, andsteel, Lengkongliu captures the wind's energy with translucent sails, subtly altering color as light filters through. Modular and adaptable, the installation offers a dynamic sensory experience, reflecting the harmony between nature, energy, and life's perpetual flow.

6

天堂鸟 The Swarga

Swarga, another name for the bird of paradise that reflects heavenly beauty, also reflects the philosophy of life embodied in Bal's Piodalan tradition. The charming "meara-arasan" movements in the Cendrawash Dance show how differences complement each other and create harmony. The tedung installed as a sign of preparation and the canang sari as a holy offering remind us of the importance of preparation and gratitude. These three elements provide valuable lessons about living life well, namely with preparation, gratitude and respect, and appreciating differences to create harmony.

7

浮羽亭 Floating Feather Pavilion

Description:Floating Feather Pavilion symbolizes the harmonious integration of humanity and nature. The structure, seemingly floating at the heart of the lake, is designed with bamboo and fine filaments, giving it the appearance dila graceful feather resting lightly on the water. The pavilion moves gently with the wind, creating a tranquil and dynamic atmosphere, inviting viewers into a serene natural realm.

Function and Experience: The Floating Feather Pavilion leverages the natural texture of bamboo and the delicate features of filaments to provide a unique visual pleasure from afar. Designed for viewing from a distance, the pavilion highlights the aesthetic of lightness and movement.

8

生命之戒 The Ring of Life

Water is essential to the survival of both nature and humans. Wherever there is water, life will exist. Like the sacred Mekong River, which is also abundant, it has its source in China and traverses several countries, including Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. The flow of the Mekong River has shaped a way of life along its banks, whether it is for earning a living or fishing. The Mekong River supports human existence through a variety of fishing methods. The majority of these methods involve catching fish using cast nets, which are common in Southeast Asia and particularly popular in Thailand, especially in the Mekong Basin. The design concept was inspired by the traditional fishing methods of the Mekong River. people. It gims to create an architectural work that reflects the unique way of life along the Mekong River, using the pattern of casting a net mat is spread out and ready to dive into the water to surround the fish swimming in the Mekong River:

9

纯洁的运动 The Movement of Purity

The lotus has been called the "lotus flower". The Queen of Aquatic Plants' is considered a symbol of goodness and purity.

From the concept of shadow movement in the wind. and installation of art on the surface of the water that has reflections.

Because the lotus is a symbol of purity. Therefore, the idea was to create a light of purity that falls on the surface of the water and enters the eyes of the visitors.Make this piece of art become beautiful and meaningful. This resulted in the idea of bringing lotus flowers. witch ore plants with beautifu flowers that grow above the surface of the water, into the water.

10

低语潮汐 Whispering Tides

11

卡恩 Khaen

To meet the requirement for the operation to rotate or pivot efficiently, the structure was designed with a round steel bar frame that locks into a groove ball bearing, allowing smooth and effective movement. This design ensures that the components can rotate with maximum efficiency, selecting a structure that integrates with the rotating mechanism of the bearing for optimal performance.

Reinforced with a framework, shaped into a structure designed to secure parts of the turbine baldes and bamboo using iron pipes, fastened with nails and further strengthened by bining with 3~4 layers of hemp rope, allowing all components to move together and rotate around a central axis.

12

微风照明 Breezy Illumination

"wind" is the movement of particles or air, "shadow follows the wind" is the shadow that move along the impact of the wind. The site where the sculpture will be installed is on the water surface and the expo will also held in the night time as well. hence, we considered about thewind interaction, lights and the reflection on water surface. we would like to present wind art concept that cooperated between wind, lights and reflection. with all three elements combined, it creates a sculpture that impacted by the wind then causes the reflection water surface. the concept we would like to present is inspired by aurora phenomenon.

13

琴韵

This design blends poetry with Haixinsha's unique geography, highlighting the grandeur of Guangzhou's central axis through wind, bamboo, and rhythm. Windmills act as dancers, capturing the breeze to move "piano keys" that strike bamboo drums in rhythm, embodying the essence of "Bamboo shadows sway with the wind, the piano moves and dances in the light."The installation reflects Guangzhou's vitality and cultural energy while showcasing bamboo's resilience and sustainability through its dynamic interaction with the wind, conveying a vision of harmony between humanity and nature.

14

挣脱 Shaking Off

Shaking off is the heart of this pneumatic device. Life is offen trapped in bondage, and so is the device. When the wind is about to rise, the rope and gravity are in the way. It is based on a sail, and the combination of bamboo pieces and elastic cloth captures the direction and movement of the wind like a sail, showing the dynamic beauty of Shaking off.

15

破竹 Bamboo Splitting

When bamboo stands tall in the wind, its grace and strength in sway begin.A pure and simple harmony, A dance of nature, wild and free.

No need for hands to shape or guide. No schemes to bind the breeze outside. No third to break their quiet thread -- bamboo and wind, by nature wed.Their bond evokes a tranquil air, a world of whispers, soft and rare.

The bamboo laughs, in wind's embrace, a gentle smile upon its face. With moonlight as their secret guest, shadows drift and find their rest. The swaying leaves, a quiet tune, keep their promise beneath the mona.

16

掠花影 Blossom’s Prorhecy

Our initial prototype in the preliminary round- "three-winged windmill." When it rotates, it presents a delightful floral shape from atop view, thus the design for the semitinals will deepen this concept more.

Transforming the "windmill" by "flattening" it vertically into a horizontal rotating unit that resembles a "three-petal flower" . Each complete blade will be layered into multiple horizontal level.

To complement the flower' s form, we rotated each layer of the individual rotating unit by 60° at each interval, creating a staggered arrangement of seven layers. The overall shape from top to bottom will resemble a spindle.

Whenever the wind comes, each layer of the"three-petal flower" will sway independently.

17

珠水奔浪 The waves of the Pearl River

The design of the pneumatic device is inspired by the wave shape in the the Pearl River water: the main body of the device presents an elegant and streamlined arc structure, which is very similar to the wave shape. The curvature and extension of each part symbolize the undulations of the waves. The shape resembles the arc of rolling waves, extending layer by layer, simulating the effect of wave layering.

18

曳影 Swaying Shadows

Try to imagine, trekking in the August sun, you openly shuttle into a bamboo forest, rustling between the leaves, light through the leaf gap refracted dappled spots, feel the wind filtered by the bamboo leaves lingering around you.

“Trailing Shadows”Centers around the idea that 'Wind moves and shadows follow' and is inspired by nature, reconstructing a scene of swaying tree branches and dappled light and shadows.

19

埙风潮 Xun Wind Surge

Xun Feng Chao, like a-solidified poem of the wind, captures the essence of Bastern aesthetics and the breath of nature with its form extracted from the traditional Chinese instrument, the xun, and its bamboo forest-like structure. Under the caress of the wind. the windmill on the installation slowly rotates, like a dancer of time, while the wind whistle plays a melodious tune,.intertwining with the whispers of the windmill to create a symphony of nature. It stands quietly. dancing with light and shadow, and every touch of the wind is a conversation with nature, reminding us of the beauty of harmony between humans and nature. Xun Feng Chao is a dream interwoven with art and environment. a poem of the wind, a hymn to nature, allowing us to feel the perfect fusion of art and nature in every breath.

20

凌风竹谣 Bamboo Lullaby in the Wind's Embrace

The "Bamboo Lullaby in the Wind's Embrace" installation exemplifies a profound integration of natural elements and cultural symbols, resulting in a visually striking and culturally layered piece of public art. Bamboo, as a prominent symbol of Chinese tradition, represents vitality, resilience, and flexibility. Through its interaction with the wind, the bamboo's kinetic movement and rhythm breathe life into the installation, imbuing it with energy. The piece itself extends beyond mere physical form— it is a conduit for emotional expression and philosophical reflection.

超时空许愿池 Future Wishing Fountain

The people of the Greater Bay Area believe that turning windmills can bring good luck. During the Double Ninth Festival, people in Guangzhou will buy a small windmill before going up the mountain and walk up from the foot of the mountain with the windmill in hand, hoping to use this opportunity to "climb high and transport", avoid disasters, and let the wind bring hope. By combining the classic European wishing pool with a vertical windmill, a modern and timeless wishing pool is designed. Coins are inserted and transformed into various colored balls in the device, representing different wishes. When the small ball rises by the wind and falls into the pool, completing a wish, the coin acceptor will also retrieve a coin from another wishing person, completing the time and space conversion. Combining various bamboo designs, this ancient and sustainable material is combined with the modern technology concept of the super time and space wishing pool to create a unique cultural experience.
