John is a passionate practitioner and advocate for career planning and development.  Currently he is a Global Program Lead at Novartis, and had served as Global Analytics Project Manager and Global Program Team Director in different franchises and units.  Before Novartis, John held positions with increased R&D responsibilities from Whitehall-Robins, Kos Pharmaceuticals, Schering-Plough, and Sanofi-Aventis.  Over the years, John has actively volunteered in various professional organizations, served as Chair of Project Management Community in DIA, SAPA President and Career Lead, Chair of Chinese Culture Community, President of Novartis Toastmasters Club and Area Director of Toastmasters International at District 83.  John had presented in various domestic and international symposia on PM and drug development.  John obtained his PhD in pharmaceutics from Virginia Commonwealth University, MBA from Rutgers University, and BMed from Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. John is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), and trained in black-belt for lean six-sigma.

Yongmei Li, PhD

CEO, The EmerTher Company

Dr. Yongmei Li is the CEO of the EmerTher Company (Formerly, AvanBio Inc.) specialized in the development and manufacture of nano-scale superparamagnetic beads for biomedical applications, aimed to help customers worldwide to implement automatic procedures for nucleic acid and protein extraction/purification in their labs.  Yongmei is also the President of Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association (SAPA).  Previously, Yongmei has served with increasing responsibilities including Senior Principal Scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim, led a group of scientists in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics in support of new drug development, and led the research on drug metabolism and drug-drug interactions for a second-generation anti-HCV drug, and relevant regulatory submissions in US, Europe, and Japan.  Yongmei obtained her BS and MS degree in Pharmacy from the West China University of Medical Sciences, and PhD in pharmacognosy (Natural Product Chemistry) from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy.

David Cragin, PhD

Teva Pharmaceuticals

Dr. Dave Cragin is a Mentor, Leader, Toxicologist, and a Multilingual Risk Communicator and Risk assessor.  Currently he is the Senior Director Product Science at Teva Pharmaceuticals. Previously he was the Director of Complaint Management for Merck & Co., Inc. where he lead enterprise wide project teams regarding complaint vigilance and collaborates on medical devices & combination products. Previously, he supported quality on a world-wide basis regarding impurities, degradates, and cross-contamination risk assessments. Outside of Teva and Merck, he teaches risk assessment and critical thinking for the University of the Sciences, Philadelphia, Peking University, and Beijing Normal University. In addition, he has taught risk communication across the globe. He speaks Chinese and is knowledgeable in many languages. Dr. Cragin is a Trustee of the Toxicology Education Foundation, is Past-President of the Mid-Atlantic Society of Toxicology, and a Councilor for the Philadelphia Association for Critical Thinking. He received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from University of California, Davis, his B.S. in Zoology from the University of Rhode Island, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology.

Yulan Zhang, MS

Deloitte Consulting Life Science and Health Care Practice

Yulan is a consultant at Deloitte Consulting Life Science and Health Care practice. Yulan specializes in developing strategies and implementing digital health solutions for major pharmaceutical companies and hospitals.

Prior to joining Deloitte Consulting, Yulan worked as evidence generation leads and advised clients on HEOR (Health Economics & Outcomes Research)  / RWE (Real World Evidence) protocol design and data analysis to evaluate products’ real-world efficacy and safety and to inform provider and payer strategies. Yulan led analysis for landscape assessment and outcomes-based contracts to provide evidence and insights for the negotiation of product tier and contract pricing. Yulan is also experienced in drug safety evaluation to address issues with real world adverse event reporting of newly launched drugs.

Yulan holds an Master’s Degree in Biostatistics from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry & Cell Biology and Management Science from University of California San Diego.
