The Association for Global Political Thought is an international, interdisciplinary, and intercollegiate project founded in 2021, supported by humanists and social scientists from global institutions. We are excited to announce that after our conferences at Harvard University (April 8-9, 2022) and Princeton University (April 26-27, 2024), we will host the third Global Political Thought conference with the School of International Service at American University, in Washington D.C. (Friday-Sunday, April 25-27, 2025).
We welcome submissions that seek to enrich the study of political, social, and international thought; expand the scopes of political traditions and their languages; interrogate the discipline’s constitutive exclusions and limits of existing methods of inquiry; or address the theoretical and historical foundations of contemporary global political predicaments. More information about the Association, including examples of works that have been presented in our seminar series, and the panels of our 2022-23 conference at Harvard University, 2023-24 conference at Princeton University, as well as our recent symposium in memory of J.G.A. Pocock, may be found on our website.Submissions are due by Friday October 11th, 2024 at midnight EST and should be sent to globalpoliticalthought@gmail.com. Applicants will receive a response in November, 2024.Length: Papers should not exceed 12,000 words, including citations.Formatting: Submissions, in either PDF or MS word documents, should be formatted consistently and for blind review. We suggest 12-pt font and double-spacing. Notes and bibliography may be in any style but must be consistent.Fees and Funding: There is no registration fee for the conference. Panelists and participants are encouraged to apply for conference travel grants from either home or external institutions. In case of need, funding is also available from our co-host, the School of International Service at American University, to defray the cost of lodging in and travelling to Washington DC.Applicants should direct submissions to globalpoliticalthought@gmail.com.
