The parallel session of the 7th Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF)—Pudong and the World: High-Standard Institutional Opening-up For New Development Opportunities will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) on November 6, 2024. The session is hosted by Shanghai Municipal People's Government and Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, and organized by Pudong New Area People's Government.
Under HQF’s theme of "High-Standard Opening up for Universally Beneficial and Inclusive Economic Globalization", and following the instructions set in the Guideline on Building Pudong into a Pioneer Area, the session will explore ways to better, faster and more proactively align with high-standard international economic and trade rules such as CPTPP and DEPA, and leverage Pudong’s role as a “test field” for participating in global economic governance, so as to deepen institutional opening-up and foster new advantages in international cooperation and competition.
The session features welcome speeches, keynote addresses and panel discussion. Leaders of Shanghai Municipality and relevant ministries and commissions will deliver welcome speeches. Keynote speakers include Zhang Junkuo, Deputy Director of the Proposal Committee of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, Chairman of the China Development Research Foundation, Former Deputy Director of Development Research Center of the State Council; Erik Solheim, Recipient of the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award, Vice President of the Belt and Road Initiative International Green Development Coalition, Former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations; and Dr. Christian Bruch, President and CEO of Siemens Energy AG. The panel discussion invites business representatives to exchange insights on the theme of the session, including Vivian Bian, CEO of Roche Pharma China; Marc Horn, EVP of Merck KGaA and President of Merck China; Maximilian Foerst, President and CEO of ZEISS Greater China; Jasmine Xu, Chairman of the Board and CEO of P&G Greater China; and Bai Binyi, Executive Vice President of Business Group Electronics China at FORVIA HELLA and Member of the Executive Board of Electronics of HELLA GmbH & Co. KGaA.
A promotion event will be held before the parallel session. Global partners including Ernst & Young, Kearney Management Consultants, and Cushman & Wakefield will share Pudong’s strength in sci-tech innovation, finance, headquarters economy, business environment, and modern urban development from a third party’s perspective, so as to increase the visibility of Pudong as a district known for collaborative growth.

Hongqiao International Economic Forum (hereinafter referred to as HQF) is held in tandem with the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Under the theme of "High-Standard Opening up for Universally Beneficial and Inclusive Economic Globalization", the 7th HQF features the main forum (the opening ceremony of the CIIE and HQF), and 19 parallel sessions under "1+4" sections, i.e. the Press Release and International Symposium on World Openness Report 2024 and parallel sessions under Opening-up for Development, Opening-up for Cooperation, Opening-up for Innovation and Opening-up for Sharing. Meanwhile, closed meetings, including roundtables for foreign-funded enterprises and promotional activities related to "Invest in China", will be organized at the 7th HQF.

Introduction to
CIIE & HQF GALA
The 7th China International Import Expo & Hongqiao International Economic Forum Gala (CIIE&HQF GALA) will continue to be held before the opening ceremony, further enhancing the quality of services provided.
Facilitate networking and meetings. The Hongqiao Forum Secretariat will promptly release guest information to support mutual networking.
Enhance media interaction. Mainstream media will be invited to the event for scheduled interviews and spontaneous on-site interviews with high-profile guests, to enhance visibility. Photography services will also be provided.
Launch the function of message reservation. The information system of the Hongqiao Forum is optimized and upgraded. This system integrates such functions as registration, information inquiry, and guest interaction. It is now operational within the Hongqiao Forum module of the "Import Expo" App and applet.
