故事的主人公唐志军是诞生于上世纪八十年代的科幻杂志《宇宙探索》的主编。曾经辉煌一时的杂志如今日渐式微，唐志军也变得落魄潦倒、鳏寡孤独，但他却几十年如一日地痴迷于寻找地外文明。
The protagonist of the story, Tang Zhijun, is the editor-in-chief of the science fiction magazine "Space Exploration", which was born in the 80s of the last century. The once glorious magazine is now in decline, and Tang Zhijun has become depressed, widowed and lonely, but he has been obsessed with finding extraterrestrial civilizations for decades.
某天，唐志军接收到一个疑似来自宇宙深处的异常信号，这如同驴子眼前的胡萝卜一般，既可能是真实的，也可能只是梦幻泡影。然而，怀揣着对外星人的执着与那个困惑他终生的问题，唐志军毅然召集了一群同是天涯沦落人的伙伴，踏上了寻找外星人的奇妙旅途。
One day, Tang Zhijun received an abnormal signal suspected to come from the depths of the universe, which was like a carrot in front of a donkey's eyes, which could be real or just a dream. However, with his attachment to aliens and the question that puzzled him all his life, Tang Zhijun resolutely gathered a group of fellow partners who were also fallen people at the end of the world and embarked on a wonderful journey to find aliens.

Journey To The West
这趟旅程宛如《西游记》般充满了荒诞与奇遇。同行的成员有世故却又对唐志军信任有加的管财务的秦彩蓉、整日喝酒有些口吃的气象站工作者那日苏，以及父母离异对世界充满好奇的志愿者晓晓。
This journey is like "Journey to the West", full of absurdities and adventures. The members of the fellowship include Qin Cairong, who is sophisticated but trusts Tang Zhijun, who is in charge of finances, Na Risu, a weather station worker who drinks all day and stutters, and Xiaoxiao, a volunteer whose parents are divorced and is curious about the world.
他们在探索的路上遇到了各种光怪陆离的人和事，比如头戴铝锅、造型酷似顾城的乡村诗人孙一通。孙一通只关心诗歌和天文异象，他似乎与宇宙有着某种神秘的联系，并一步步带领唐志军揭开谜底。
On the way to explore, they meet all kinds of strange people and things, such as Sun Yitong, a rural poet who wears an aluminum pot and looks like Gu Cheng. Sun Yitong only cares about poetry and astronomical visions, he seems to have some kind of mysterious connection with the universe, and leads Tang Zhijun step by step to uncover the mystery.

It is a mixture of absurdity, black humor, road movies and other elements, which not only makes people laugh, but also provokes people to think deeply about loneliness, the meaning of human existence, and the relationship between the universe and life.

“如果宇宙是一首诗的话，我们每一个人都是组成这首诗的一个个文字。我们繁衍不息，彼此相爱，然后我们这一个个字就变成了一个又一个的句子，这首诗就能一直写下去。当这首诗写得足够长，总有一天，我们可以在这首宇宙之诗里，读懂我们存在的意义。”这是影片末尾唐志军在经历一系列颠沛之后的肺腑之言，也是影片的主旨所在。
"If the universe is a poem, each of us is a word that composes the poem. We multiply and love each other, and then our words become sentence after sentence, and the poem can go on forever. When this poem is written long enough, one day, we can read the meaning of our existence in this poem of the universe.
