One of Beijing’s most unique dining experiences just got better.
Georgia’s Feast in Dongzhimen, serving the national cuisine of the Georgian Republic, has just revamped their entire menu. With a new head chef in the kitchen whose prior gig was at the 5-star Kerry Hotel, the revamped menu keeps true to the Georgian classics and adds a depth of global experience.
For those new to Georgian food, you’ll find influences from Turkish, Persian, Armenian, and Russian cuisine, with hints of Western Europe and even China.
For those who are already fans of Georgia’s Feast, you’ll find revised versions of your favorites.
Imagine biting into a warm, boat-shaped Khachapuri, its molten cheese oozing with every bite, reminiscent of an Italian pizza but with a unique Georgian twist.
Or consider Khinkali – traditional steamed dumplings with a variety of unique stuffings – which are like jiaozi on steroids and could easily be found on a Chinese restaurant menu.
Khinkali offerings have expanded to four multi-colored versions: classic Beef/Pork (white skins), Mushroom (green), Venison (purple), and Seafood (black). Can’t decide? Get a sampler platter of all four!
An extensive selection of soups, salads, and appetizers will get you started.
We recommend the Tomato and Pomegranate Salad, featuring feta, mint, and cucumbers on a base of leafy spinach.
New on the menu are European classics like French Lamb Chops and Lobster Soup, also worth trying.
You’ll also want to try one of the popular beverages of Georgia: Tarragon Lemonade, a sweet herbal soft drink that’s perfect for the season.
Extra bonus: some of their menu prices have actually been reduced – when does that ever happen in Beijing?
All of this is served in the warm, homey atmosphere of their Dongzhimen locale. The restaurant’s interior is adorned with traditional Georgian decor, including a stunning wall-sized mural steeped in traditional imagery.
Each section of the restaurant has its unique character, with booth-like seating for those looking for an intimate setting, a luxurious private dining room downstairs, and a main dining room featuring a stage for more communal dining.
If you’re a fan, you’ll definitely want to check out what’s new – and if you’ve never been, well then you’ve got a lot of catching up to do.
Best news of all for those of us in town for the Chinese New Year holidays: Georgia’s Feast will be open throughout the break.
