长久以来，剧作家大卫（约翰·库萨克 John Cusack 饰）都过着郁郁不得志的生活，艺术家特有的清高让他对如今腐败混乱的话剧界充满了失望之情。为了讨好情妇奥利芙（詹妮弗·提莉 Jennifer Tilly 饰），黑帮大佬看中了名不见经传的大卫的剧本想要投资，作为前提条件 ，大卫必须让奥利芙饰演主角。虽然奥利芙唠叨的个性和蹩脚的演技让大卫深感抓狂，但在利益面前，他痛苦的屈服了。就这样，一个奇怪的剧组诞生了。

Bullets Over Broadway (1994), directed by Woody Allen, is a comedy that blends the worlds of theater and organized crime. Set in the 1920s, the film follows David Shayne, a struggling and idealistic playwright who finally gets his big break when a wealthy gangster named Nick Valenti agrees to finance his play. The catch is that Valenti insists his talentless girlfriend, Olive, be cast in a leading role.

As rehearsals progress, David faces increasing creative frustration. However, Cheech, Olive’s gangster bodyguard, unexpectedly reveals an insightful understanding of theater and starts contributing to the script, making it better. David, torn between his artistic pride and the improvements made by Cheech, allows the gangster to rewrite much of the play.

Things spiral as Cheech becomes obsessed with maintaining the play’s integrity, leading him to take drastic actions when Olive’s performance threatens its success. The film humorously explores themes of artistic integrity, compromise, and the blurred lines between genius and madness in the world of art.

Soul (2020), directed by Pete Docter, is a heartwarming Pixar film about life, purpose, and passion. The story follows Joe Gardner, a middle school music teacher who dreams of becoming a professional jazz musician. Just as he’s about to get his big break, performing with a famous jazz quartet, Joe accidentally falls into an open manhole and finds himself in the “Great Before,” a place where souls are prepared for life on Earth.

In this otherworldly realm, Joe meets 22, a soul who has no desire to live on Earth. Desperate to return to his life, Joe teams up with 22 to find a way back to his body. Along the journey, Joe begins to reconsider his own understanding of what it means to truly live.

Through humorous and heartfelt moments, the film explores deep themes of self-discovery, purpose, and finding joy in the small moments of everyday life, ultimately suggesting that passion doesn’t define a life, but how you live it does.
