Recently, while conducting inspections on inbound passengers, customs officers at Shuikou Customs intercepted a foreign traveler. Upon inspection, they discovered four small plastic bags containing a green, crushed plant with a strong odor hidden in the traveler's package. The total net weight was 7.25 grams. After testing, the plant tested positive for marijuana, and a professional agency later confirmed it to be marijuana. The case has now been transferred to the anti-smuggling department for further processing.
Marijuana is listed in the "Catalogue of Narcotic Drugs (2013 Edition)" and is classified as a controlled narcotic in China. The country strictly regulates the cultivation of plants used for narcotic drugs, as well as the production and distribution of narcotic and psychotropic drugs. According to Article 347 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, anyone found smuggling, trafficking, transporting, or manufacturing drugs, regardless of the quantity, will be subject to criminal liability and face legal punishment.
