Arrival - Surabaya

Today is arrival day! Take any flight to Surabaya, a port city in East Java, Indonesia. We will meet at the airport (time to be confirmed) and drive to the hotel. 

In the evening, we can go for a group dinner and get to know each other (optional).

Surabaya - Mount Bromo

After breakfast, we will drive (~3h) to reach the Bromo area. Our first stop will be - Cemoro Lawang (2217m altitude) - a hilltop village northeast of Mount Bromo.

From Cemoro Lawang, we'll start our hike to Mount Bromo (2329m altitude) - an active volcano and part of the Tengger mountains in East Java. 

After getting the tickets, we will embark on a 30-minute jeep ride to the base of Mt. Bromo's craters. From there, we will trek to the top and witness the breathtakingly beautiful scenes of the active volcano and the mountain views. Additionally, you can explore the biggest crater that is continuously booming and emitting smoke.

By 14:00, we will drive to a local restaurant for lunch and proceed with hotel check-in at Cemoro Lawang. This hotel boasts fantastic views of the holistic Bromo Mountain.

Finally, at 18:30, we will gather for a group dinner at the hotel.

Cemoro Lawang - Mt. Pananjakan - Ketapang

02:00 Wake up very early

02:30 Meet at the hotel lobby and embark on a one-hour jeep ride to the sunrise viewpoint at Bromo. Enjoy coffee and snacks while waiting for the sunrise. 

06:15 Return to the hotel after admiring the stunning view of Bromo Mount at sunrise. 

07:15 Have breakfast, rest, and pack your belongings for check-out. 

09:00 Depart from the hotel of Banyuwangi and drive to Ketapang - a small harbor town at the eastern tip of Java. Stop for lunch on the way. 

16:00 Arrive at the beach hotel, check in, and spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool with a beautiful view of the sea.

Ijen - Ketapang - Gilimanuk - Pemuteran

You will need to wake up in the middle of the night for this adventure.

00:00 Meet at the hotel lobby and drive (~1h) to reach the starting point of the Ijen Mt hike. Upon arrival, we will provide you with some coffee and snacks to prepare for the hike.

01:30 We will begin our hike up Ijen Mt. It will take us around 1.5 hours to reach the crater. During the hike, we will witness the incredible blue fire, a phenomenon unique to Ijen Mt, which is full of sulfur and requires the use of a special gas mask for protection. We will also see the volcano lake. We will then continue to hike up for 40 minutes to the top to enjoy the breathtaking view of the entire mountain, which resembles an abandoned planet created by a higher power. We will then head back down.

07:30 Time to drive back to the hotel and have breakfast. We may rest a bit before checking out.

10:00 We will check out of the hotel and drive (~15min) to Ketapang harbor. We will then take a ferry (~1h) to arrive at Gilimanuk harbor in Bali (note that Bali time is one hour earlier than Java time).

In the afternoon, we will arrive at Gilimanuk harbor and drive (~2.5h) to reach Permuteran. We will stop along the way for lunch. 

Once at the hotel in Permuteran, we can relax on the beach or freely explore the small fish town for the rest of the day.

Pemuteran

Today, we'll be spending the whole day in Pemuteran - also called deer island (as it happens to be the habitat of the Barking Deer).

After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to the dive shop to pick up our equipment for today's diving or snorkeling tour. Most diving sites here have warm waters and magnificent coral slopes going down to 25m deep. 

There are three activity options to choose from:

Option 1: +75rmb/person

If you have a scuba diving certificate, you can take part in two fun dives in Pemuteran, consisting of one shore dive and one boat dive.

Option 2: +150rmb/person

For those without a scuba diving certificate but who are interested in trying it out, you can take part in the introduction dive, which includes two shore dives in Pemuteran.

Option 3: no extra fee

If you prefer snorkeling, we can arrange a boat tour for you to visit two snorkeling sites in the renowned Menjangan National Park. Here, you can admire the beautiful corals and various species of fish, with a chance of spotting some shy sharks and turtles if you're lucky.

In the afternoon, both the scuba diving and snorkeling tours will come to an end and we will head back to the hotel. You can then choose to spend the rest of your day relaxing on the beach or exploring Pemuteran at your own pace.

Pemuteran -  Munduk - Ubud

After breakfast, we will check out of the hotel and embark on a two-hour drive to Munduk Twin Lakes. Upon arrival, we will be greeted by breathtaking views of the twin lakes and capture some unforgettable moments from the high vantage points. 

We will then proceed to Tamblingan Lake, which is a 15-minute drive away. Here, we will embark on a two-hour primitive jungle trek, led by a knowledgeable guide who will highlight the tropical plants and ancient trees that have stood for hundreds or thousands of years. After the trek, we will take a leisurely canoe ride on the serene Tamblingan Lake.

After lunch, we'll drive (~20 minutes) to discover the nearby secret primitive waterfalls. You will be amazed by the stunning views of three or four waterfalls and have a relaxing time amidst the lush and cool jungle.

As the day winds down, we will begin our two-hour drive to Ubud, where we will enjoy a group dinner before retiring to our hotel for the night.

Ubud 

In the morning, we will drive to the Tegalalang area to witness the stunning rice terrace views.

Next, we will visit the renowned Luwak Coffee factory to observe the coffee-making process.

Afterward, we will head uphill to the Batur mountain area, where we will enjoy a Balinese breakfast while admiring the breathtaking views of the Batur Volcano mountain. 

Then, we will begin our cycling tour downhill, passing through beautiful scenery and stopping at various villages, temples, and a woodcarving workshop. Throughout the tour, our professional guide will provide insightful knowledge about tropical nature.

Finally, we will finish the cycling tour at Tegalalang village and have lunch together in a Traditional Balinese house. 

~15h, we will drive to Ubud center and drop you off at your hotel.

- Between booking and 15 days prior to departure: 250rmb

Cancellation Policy

If the weather is really bad and represents a risk for people's safety, or there is any government restriction we could cancel the trip up to 1 day in advance. The deposit would be fully refunded. Note that we are NOT responsible for flight cancellation fees. This would need to be dealt with the airline company directly. 

All forms of outdoor recreation (including hiking) have a higher level of risk than most ordinary activities.

By participating in M2adventure's hike, you acknowledge and accept the responsibility for making your own determinations as to the suitability of the activity and for their own safety, conduct, and well-being and agrees to participate solely at your own risk.

M2adventure, its organizer & hike leaders will not be held responsible for any loss or injury which you may sustain as a result of your participation in any of these activities.
