Some 2,400 runners from across the world on Saturday experienced the fun of integrating sports with cultural exploration at the UNESCO Town of Luang Prabang World Heritage Site in Laos.
Titled “Run For Children”, the Luang Prabang Half Marathon 2024 was hosted by Lao Friends Hospital for Children and co-hosted by China Daily and the RVi Group.
Starting in the city center of Luang Prabang on Saturday morning, it then weaved through ancient temples, passing the tranquil banks of the Mekong and Nam Kham rivers and several well-known attractions before reaching the finish line.
The goal of the race is to strengthen community spirit while raising funds and awareness for Lao Friends Hospital for Children, the only pediatric hospital in the north of the country that offers free medical care to over 35,000 children annually.
