情态动词

 

1. 情态动词表推测

  对现在情况的推测。

(1)对现在情况的肯定推测用:must+动词原形。

This must be your room. 这一定是你的房间了。

He must be eighty now。他现在一定有八十岁了。

(2)对现在情况的否定推测用:can/could not+动词原形,表示“否定推测或判断”,有“不可能”之意。用can’t还是用couldn’t没有时态差异,只是can’t的语气比couldn’t强。

The boy is honest. He can’t lie. 这个男孩很诚实。他不可能说谎.

That’s impossible! Tom couldn’t bein Hong Kong. 那不可能!汤姆不可能在香港。

(3) might/may+动词原形,表示说话人对事物的推测,可能性较小。

He might not come today. 他今天可能不来了.

It might rain. 天可能下雨。

  对过去情况的推测用must +have +v—ed,表示对过去情况的推测,意思是:一定(已经发生某事)。

They must have heard the news. 他们一定听到这消息了。

He must have been here sincebreakfast. 早饭后他一定是在这儿。

2. whose引导的特殊疑问句。

whose意为“谁的”,像物主代词一样,亦有名词和形容词的性质。

(1) 用来提问形容词性物主代词。 

Whose pens are these? 这些是谁的笔?

Whose room is that? 那是谁的房间?

(2) 用来提问名词性物主代词。

Whose is that car? 这辆小汽车是谁的?

Whose are these clothes? 这些衣服是谁的?
