Tofu Pudding Rice Noodles

豆花米线

" Dou Hua Mi Xian"

4th floor of Zi Jing

On the fourth floor of Zijing , there is a delicacy known as Douhua Rice Noodles, a dish that is a perfect blend of color, aroma, and taste, characteristic of Yunnan cuisine. This dish exquisitely combines the smoothness of bean curd (豆花, doufuhua, which can be translated as bean curd or tofu pudding) with the delicate texture of rice noodles. A bowl of vibrant red douhua rice noodles is topped with crispy fried soybeans, fresh bean sprouts, and bright green vegetables. It is then drizzled with a special minced meat sauce, sprinkled with chopped green onions and cilantro, and garnished with the tender bean curd. Each bite is a burst of happiness. The lightness of the bean curd contrasts beautifully with the richness of the meat sauce, while the softness of the rice noodles complements the crunch of the vegetables, creating an experience that leaves a lasting impression. If you have the opportunity to taste this dish, you will undoubtedly be captivated by its unique flavors.

Delicious~

Entering the Rift: Baxter's Poetry and Publicness

Baxter's poetic style has undergone numerous transformations, inheriting the traditions of modern English poetry while also forging new paths within it. Baxter delves into the culture of New Zealand's indigenous tribes, experiencing profound cultural collisions. He not only writes his diverse identities and experiences into his poetry but also actively creates the "Jerusalem" community locally, bringing the spirit of poetry into fusion with different groups and socio-political issues, spreading the energy of modern poetry to the public sphere. In an era where the spirit of poetry is increasingly marginalized, what insights can Baxter's writing and actions provide? How can the publicness of poetry, like "entering the rift," connect with contemporary ethical life? In this salon, we have invited translator Zhang Taozhou, who has translated Baxter's works, along with other guests and readers, to analyze Baxter's textual aesthetics and explore the public voice of poetic culture.

  • Location:Room 315, Meng Minwei Humanities Building, Tsinghua University
