在写作Task2中的评分标准中有一项GRA (grammatical range and accuracy)，考察的是学生写英语句子多样性和准确性的能力，即测试考生简单句和复杂句的综合运用能力。

什么是复杂句？

很多同学都以为复杂句就是句子长、语法复杂、使用的高级词汇的句子，这导致他们考试时总是写出语法错误多，又长且难以理解的句子。这是雅思写作的大忌，在考官眼里就是班门弄斧，还没有弄好的行为。

复杂句分为两类：并列句和从句。如果一个复杂句中的两个子句重要性相同，那就是并列句；重要性不同则是从句。

#什么是并列句？

例如：She runs and he drives a car 。

上句用并列连词and连接“she runs”和“he drives a car”这两个子句，我们无法说这两个子句谁更重要，因为两者所说的内容重要性相等。所以在写作中，如果两个简单句之间没有因果关系，是两个独立的事情，可以用and将两个简单句连成一个复杂句。

我们可以来做一个小练习，先从简单句开始：

Many children play computer games.Others prefer sports.

这是两个简单句，如何把他们转化成一个复合句？

答案：Many children play computer games but others prefer sports.因为这两句话所表达的含义是相反的，所以在两个简单句中间加了一个并列连接词but。

常见的并列连词有for、and、nor、but、or、yet、so，大家可以记成“FANBOYS”，方便记忆。

#什么是从句？

当两个子句的重要性不同时，我们称这个复杂句为从句形式。从句是由两个句子连接起来的，代词、副词、连词，都笼统地称为引导词，所以从句的一般结构是：简单句1 + 引导词 + 简单句2。引导词表格如下：

还是用刚刚那句话做一下练习：

Many children play computer games.Others prefer sports.

想把这两句话连在一起，应该用表格中的哪一个词呢？我们都知道这两个简单句表达的意思相反，所以要找一个表达相反意思的词有：although,even、though,though,whereas,while。

答案1：Although many children play computer games,others prefer sports.

答案2：Many children play computer games whereas others prefer sports.

答案：Competitive sports should be encouranged among children,in order to  improve health,fitness and foster cooperation.
