The hidden village in Xianju, often called the Shangri-La of the East, is saying goodbye to us.
In just the next few months, the local village hosts who have welcomed M2 teams for the last 10 years, along with rest of the senior villagers, will have to leave their beautiful village. They've lived there for decades, but now the local gov plans to "renovate" the village. They want to turn it into a commercial area and build a scenic park for the whole region. The days of it being a hiker's paradise are ending. In a few years, mass tourists will be visiting by cable car instead.
(Miller and Mariane) M2 Founders first met in this village and has visited more than 50 times with hundreds of M2adventurers. We will surely witness the legendary place and its great people close its last chapter and will stand by them every step of the way. So before it is too late, please join us to visit this amazing Hidden place with great views and tradtions. The host villagers are grateful for your visits to what they still call home and appreciate all the support.
June Update: According to the local host, 30+ workers from gov contractor will start working on the cable car in Oct, the local villagers will gradually move out early next year, so for 2nd half of this 2024 we can still visit there.
Xianju is a breath-taking hidden village, surrounded by mountains, clouds, and rice terraces - also known as the "Shangri-La of East China". It is one of the best places to hike, see beautiful sceneries, and experience authentic Chinese culture!

A hidden village located deep in the mountain. It is often called "Shangrila of the East".
ITINERARY
Meeting & Drop off Point: Zhongshan Park Metro Station exit 11 of line 2 * Crossroad Kaixuan Road and Changning Road 凯旋路长宁路.

You need to carry all your belongings on Day 2 Morning hike (2/3 hours) and Day 3 Morning hike (3 hours~). So pack light~ 😊
Day 1 Friday
18:45 Let's get the Hell Out Of Shanghai. We are waiting for you at Zhongshan Park exit 11
19:00 Everyone’s here, time to go!
23:30 Arrived the hotel in a nearby town
24:00 Quickly get the room and go to sleep 💤
Day 2 Saturday
08:30 Time to get up and ready for breakfast
09:30 We start hiking to the Hidden Village (with our Backpack on!) mostly uphill following a nice trail, about 2-2.5 hours hike
12:00 Arrive at the Hidden Village and enjoy the amazing view
12:30 Take a quick break after we will have lunch together, nice food cooked by the locals (vegan-friendly option available)
14:00 Rest for a bit and go for either a challenging hike to climb a peak (4 hours) or a light hike around the village for (2 hours)! You can also choose to chill in the village if you prefer.
18:00 After the hike, you'll probably be hungry again... Good, because dinner is ready and waiting for us! Lots of delicious food (incl. vegetarian options)
19:00 Bonfire party, sit around the fire, and chitchat
Day 3 Sunday
09:30 Get up and have breakfast
10:00 Pack our belongings and hike to the next village. The hike is about 3 hours, mostly downhill. If the weather permits, we might see the cloud-sea view!
13:00 Drive for 30mins and reach the restaurant for Lunch (incl. vegetarian options). After the meal, we will head back to Shanghai 😭

Cancellation policy:
- If you decide to cancel last minute (less than 5 days in advance) you won't be able to get the deposit back.
- If the weather is really bad and represents a risk for people safety during hiking, we will cancel the trip up to 2/3 days in advance.
