Did you know that the Hallelujah Mountain in the movie Avatar was inspired by the Zhangjiajie national park in Hunan? Of course, you DID 😉
TIANMEN Mountain
Tianmen Mountain takes its name after the Tianmen Cave, a natural karst cave under the mountain. The mountain is relatively gentle, full of old trees, winding vines, mosses, stalagmites. The rare mountaintop scenery makes it the most beautiful sky garden world over, and a paradise.
GLASS BRIDGE, Grand Canyon
Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge is the world's longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge spanning over two mountains in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon.
BAOFENG Lake
Baofeng Lake is 72 meters deep and 2,500 meters long. It is surrounded by steep peaks and there are two small islands in the lake. One can take the Baofeng Lake cruise to appreciate the clear lake reflecting the peaks and the peculiar magnificent mountain scenery which is formed by strange peaks, waterfalls, and lush trees.
Phoenix Ancient City
Phoenix(Fenghuang) Ancient City is an amazing minority inhabited area, composed of 28 ethnic groups including Miao, Han and Tujia. The ancient town was built in the 43rd year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1704), and the east gate and North Gate ancient city buildings are still in existence today
ITINERARY
Meeting & Ending Point: Zhangjiajie Airport.
Day 1 Sep 30th
Take the plane to Zhangjiajie City.
For people arriving at 20:35, The guide will be waiting for you at the airport with an "M2adventure" sign, you can't miss it! You will then head to the hotel and do the check-in.
Day 2 Oct 1st
07:00 – Start your day with breakfast at the hotel.
Afterwards, we’ll board our private bus and head to the renowned Avatar National Park.
08:00 – Upon arrival, we’ll be among the first visitors to take the famous Bailong Sky Ladder Elevator, beating the crowds during the busy Oct 2nd and 3rd period. You’ll be able to enjoy breathtaking views of Avatar Mountain in a peaceful setting.
Following a walk around the park, we’ll hop on the eco-bus to explore a hidden gem, the Sky Garden—an area much less visited and one of our favorites. The views are simply stunning, and we’re sure you’ll be captivated!

Afterwards, we’ll take the eco-bus to the Tianzi Mountain area. Depending on traffic, we’ll either take the cable car down (included) or enjoy a casual one-hour walk down the mountain.
Note: The afternoon itinerary may be adjusted to visit less crowded spots depending on the traffic.
Please note the entrance fee for the show is not included. "Charming of Hunan" is a grand performance showcasing Hunan culture, especially the Miao minority. If you’re interested, let the M2 Team Leaders or your local guide know in advance for ticket booking.
Day 3 Oct 2nd
08:00 – Rise and shine! Start your day with breakfast at the hotel, gearing up for a full day of exploration.
09:30 – We’ll begin by heading to Huangshi Village, a serene and less crowded spot in the park. We’ll take a cable car ride up and down to enjoy the views, spending about 3 hours exploring this peaceful area.
Afterward, we’ll grab a quick lunch (can buy some fast food on site) before embarking on a scenic 7-kilometer walk along the picturesque Golden Whip Stream. If the weather permits, we can refresh ourselves by dipping our feet in the river, or even take a small swim in a calm pool at the end of the trail.
Next, we’ll continue with a stroll through the beautiful 10 Miles Gallery Valley, a 2-kilometer, 40-minute walk that offers stunning scenery. After that, we’ll make our way to the exit of Avatar Mountain via the Wulingyuan Scenic Area.
17:00 – We’ll check in at our hotel in Wulingyuan town, giving you time to rest and relax after the day’s adventures.
18:00 – After the dinner (not included), the evening is yours. Feel free to explore Wulingyuan town, unwind, or discover the local vibe at your own pace!
Day 4 Oct 3rd
08:00 – Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before heading out for an adventure.
We’ll take a private bus for a 1-hour drive to the Grand Canyon, home to the world-famous Glass Bridge. This incredible structure spans 430 meters in length, is 6 meters wide, and hovers 260 meters above the canyon floor. Connecting both sides of the canyon, it’s a thrilling experience.
Are you ready for some excitement? Walking on the Glass Bridge might be a bit scary, but it’s sure to be an unforgettable adventure!
Afterwards, we’ll descend into the Grand Canyon, where we’ll follow a scenic route along the river, passing through caves and waterfalls. The stunning views and fun atmosphere make for an enjoyable trek.
12:00 – Following a noon break, we’ll take our private bus to the Baofeng Lake Scenic Spot, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.
At Baofeng Lake, we’ll enjoy a peaceful boat ride, taking in the stunning landscape. The lake is surrounded by towering rock pillars rising from the water, reminiscent of the Avatar mountains, making for an awe-inspiring experience.
After the boat ride, we’ll head back to Zhangjiajie city center, where we’ll check into the hotel and settle in for the night.
Day 5. Oct 4th
08:00 – After breakfast, we’ll set off to explore Tianmen Mountain, renowned for its glass walkways and the breathtaking "Heaven Gate."
We’ll begin with an exhilarating 30-minute ride on the world’s longest cable car (7.5 km). As we ascend, you’ll be treated to stunning bird’s-eye views of the mountain, reminiscent of the flying scenes from the Avatar movie.
Once we reach the top, we’ll walk along the cliffside paths, including the thrilling glass walkways, offering spectacular views below. Keep an eye out for the red "wishing ribbons" tied to the trees as a symbol of hope and luck.
Next, we’ll pass through the iconic Heaven Gate—a massive natural cave in the mountain—and descend the famous 999 stairs. Make sure to capture some amazing photos before we take the scenic bus back down to the entrance.
After that, we’ll drive for 3.5 hours in a private coach to Phoenix Ancient City.
In the evening, after dinner, we’ll take a tranquil boat ride along the Tuojiang River to admire the beautiful night scene. You’ll see the reflections of traditional Miao wooden houses projected on the water, creating a magical atmosphere.
We’ll stay overnight in a charming local guesthouse in the Phoenix Ancient City.
Day 6. Oct 5th
08:00 – Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the guesthouse.
Afterward, we’ll explore the charming Phoenix Ancient City, where the atmosphere during the day offers a completely different vibe compared to the night. You’ll be able to fully appreciate the traditional architecture of the old buildings. The ancient town is home to 28 ethnic groups, including the Miao, Han, and Tujia, making it a culturally rich area to discover.
13:00 – After lunch (you can bring your own or buy on-site), we’ll drive to the airport, wrapping up our adventure-filled journey. You'll be leaving with incredible memories, ready to fly home. Feel free to book any flight after 18:00!
